Frozen Heart

A heart of ice, it cannot be,

Persuaded off a note.

For once it's solid; stuck within,

It can never be ever let go.

The ice occurs, so slow and daft,

Inside the mind's own set.

So truly irreversible,

Only worse can it ever get.

It softly but surely, slowly corrupts,

The thoughts from the inside out.

Transforms you so cold-blooded-ly,

That there's no way around or about.

It's sharpened spikes cleave valleys abroad,

Inside your very soul.

It wheedles away at humanity,

'Till there's nothing left at all.

Until last of all, it steals the most,

Important thing of all.

Your so lightly granted freedom,

Without it, you will fall.

Now do you see the picturesque,

But tainted ways of the dice?

That roll around with devilish glee,

Upon the hearts of ice?

A frozen heart is one without,

The mercy of the truth.

A frozen heart is one without,

The warmth that conquers youth.
