The Living Flame

One of the living flames -
Eternal as you may be,
Speak your price or speak your name;
Either whisper or silent scream.

One of a billion others,
A guide of the deepest respect.
Glacial in sight; a brilliant wonder -
A fall from the sky so direct.

Painfully, desperately fell;
A streak in the heavens above.
The torment of falling impending from hell -
All for the sake of true love?

Beguiling is your love;
So bright the same as your light.
Gleamingly constant; whether above or below,
An agony and repulsive delight.

Live in me to distill
The darkness of present or past.
Live to be - as a light to repel
The mortal fragility at last.

Oh flame of the living one,
Breathe your eternal gleam.
Pay the price or face the sun
With a whisper or silent scream.
