*Hey folks, it's your fav uncle back from the ded. How've y'all been? I've been swamped with so much stuff, especially since this is my senior year. I totally have a chapter in my drafts but I wanted to do this real quick.

So!

Gorillaz dropped like, four new tracks and I. Am. PUMPED. I almost screamed in Trig class bc of them. But yes, what did y'all think? Here's what I thought:

Ascension: What a jam! It's a funky track with lyrics that make you think a little bit. Vince Staples' voice was basically made for this song as well as getting the message across to the listeners. Omg my dear friend Matthew loves to twerk to this song I love him.

Andromeda: Hoo boy, this one was a trip for me. Especially hearing 2-D's vocals on this one, for some reason it made me cry a bit. This too also has a swell beat behind it, but more of a nostalgic and spaced out one rather than an in-your-face one like Ascension. I liked the subtlety that D.R.A.M. had on this track, very laid back and chill. This is definitely something I would play when I dissociate or just hanging out.

Saturnz Barz: OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS ONE!!!!!!! I've been playing this song on repeat and it never gets old. Well- I've been playing them all on repeat, but that's besides the point. The beat was super haunting especially with the background vocals coming in and out. I watched Anthony Fantano (theneedledrop on yt) criticise how Popcaan dominated the track, but I politely disagree with him. Sure he sings the majority of the song, but this isn't the first time this has happened on a Gorillaz track, y'know? Besides, I think he did an amazing job on this song, I think he and Damon complemented each other vocally. And the music video was really super interesting-just wish I didn't have to see Murdoc naked -_-.

We Got the Power: This one was interesting. At first, I didn't really feel it, but after a few more listens I began to really like it. Seeing as this is the last song on the album, I feel and know that Damon put it last for a reason, and I feel like this album's gonna be a wild journey and that the message is gonna be more profound when the journey's over, y'know? It's got potential.

So yes, this is what I think about these new tracks. I'm really excited for what this album will bring, especially since the recurring theme is space and I LOVE space!! How about you all? I'm genuinely curious about what y'all think. Did you like one more than the others? Let me know!!!!

BONUS: I know this one came out in November, but what did you think of Hallelujah Money?

I WANT YOUR OPINIONS PLS!
Love harmonie*
