Paul POV
It was Christmas. But it didn't really feel like a happy time.
I met Sally four years ago, she's honestly perfect for me. Two and a half years ago, we got married. Two years ago, I learned that her 17 year old son was actually a demigod. Shocked me a lot to say the least but didn't bother me at all. But six months ago, Percy went missing. Percy was her entire world, she loved him so much. So when Percy went missing, something inside Sally seemed to break, she was heartbroken.
Christmas didn't feel right without him. I didn't know Percy for a very long time but yet he held a spot dear to my heart. He risked his life every day to save us mortals. He was brave, selfless and not to mention, hilarious.
Sally and I were sitting on the couch in front of the fireplace silently, comfortable in each other's presence when we heard a knock on the door.
Sally didn't seem to want to move so I stood up and opened the door.
In front of me was a tall boy with messy black hair and broken eyes. His arm was wrapped around a blonde girl's waist, supporting her as she also seemed to have a severely sprained ankle. They were both scarred badly on their arms and had small cuts lining their faces bleeding.
"Percy", I gasped out loud.
"SALLY", I called out. Oh my god, Percy was back.
Sally walked over and when her eyes landed on the pair, she ran forward and wrapped her arms around Percy tightly. The blonde girl smiled at this scene and stepped back, letting them enjoy their moment.
We met eyes across the room and I walked forward.
"Hi Mr. Blofis, I've heard lots about you. I'm Annabeth Chase", she said, smiling at me and putting her hand out for me to shake.
I ignored the hand and drew her in for a big hug. This was Annabeth? I had heard so much about her. When Percy was missing, Sally told me stories about their adventures and Percy's life. The name Annabeth was mentioned so many times, she seemed like Percy's soul mate by the way Sally described her.
"You have no idea how much I've heard about you", I said when I let go.
Sally turned towards Annabeth and smiled huge and grabbed her and also gave her a big hug. Tears were rolling down her face and I admit tears were streaking down my face as well.
I noticed that the moment Sally let go of Annabeth, Percy grabbed her hand again. They never let go.
"What happened to you children? Where were you? I was worried sick Percy! All I got was an IM saying you were missing", Sally cried out, wanting to know everything.
Percy's eyes seemed to darken a bit and he tightened his hold on Annabeth's hand.
"It's okay Perce. We can talk about this and we have each other", Annabeth said to him, stroking her hand along his cheek softly.
Sally and I were confused. I shared a glance with her, and our confused expressions were identical. What happened to them in those six months? Why were both of them so broken and looked so lost? Why did Annabeth have to comfort him to answer a single question? Why was their relationship so strong and so stable for only 17 years old?
"We went through hell, literally. We suffer from PTSD because of our hard times there. We barely made it out alive. All we had were each other. Percy is the reason I'm alive. He willingly jumped into Tartarus for me, Sally. Your son is amazing and is my entire world", Annabeth said, eyes shining from unshed tears and holding Percy's hand tightly as if she'd be stronger near him.
"Wise girl", Percy said softly and kissed Annabeth on the cheek lightly.
I was shocked. Annabeth and Percy went through Hell? Oh my god.
"Oh my babies", Sally cried, once again wrapping them in hugs.
Sally and I spent the rest of the night talking to the two teens who went through so much and were so young. Before we knew it, it was two in the morning. I saw Annabeth yawn a little bit and I was about to say something before Percy beat me to it.
"Mom, Annabeth's tired. Can we go to sleep and chat tomorrow more? If it's fine, can we stay here for a while?", Percy said, letting Annabeth put her head on his shoulder.
"Of course, you don't even need to ask. Stay as long as you want darlings. I can't believe it's already two oh my gosh", Sally said, smiling at the thought of her son and her daughter not my blood staying with us for a while. I could see the broken parts mend inside her as Percy and Annabeth returned.
"Thanks mum", Percy smiled.
"Alright honey, you know where the guest room is. Show her down please", Sally said to the loving couple.
"Um mom. Annabeth will be sleeping in my room tonight, we literally cannot sleep without each other", Percy said blushing a little bit. But he did not phrase it as question, he said it as a statement leaving no room for argument.
"Of course Perce", I say to him, saving him from answering Sally's questions to come.
Percy picked up Annabeth like she weighed nothing and brought her to his room. I saw him tuck her in and then he changed into pajamas and closed the door.
"Oh Paul, my baby boy is home", Sally said smiling hugely and kissed me chastely.
I loved when Sally was happy. When she was happy, so was I.
"I love you Sal", I whisper into her ear.
"Love you too", she whispers back affectionately.
We hold hands and walk into our bedroom and go to sleep, cuddled against each other, content.
A.N. Done! I'm considering making this into a story with how Annabeth and Percy act around them and how they slowly heal from the memories of Tartarus; what do you think? Please vote and comment!! Btw, check out my other stories as well if you have time. I will be updating soon.
