Bellas POV-

I wake up to my mother screaming at me from down stairs "Isabella!" She repeats before I hear her thumping up the stairs. My eyes spring open and I sit up as if I had been awake for a while. My mother kicks open the door "bel-" she glances at me "oh you're awake why didn't you say anything?" She asks me. "Didn't want to respond" I shrug. "Yeah well your going to be late to school, hurry babe!" She says whipping the blanket off of me before shutting my door on the way out.

I shower and get changed. I hear the bus arriving as I'm brushing my teeth "fuck" I mumble before dropping the toothbrush and running out of the door without even washing the toothbrush. I kiss mom on the cheek and mumble a quick "love you" and run out the door.

The bus driver sees me and rolls his eyes as this is a daily problem for us.

Taking my seat I lean into it and close my eyes, or well so I thought because when I open them it's because the bus driver is repeating "student you have to get off the bus" in one tone. "Bella" I say getting up and getting off the bus. Just in time to run into the massive group of cheerleader and their football player boyfriends "watch it" sneers one of the girls I decide to not respond to that.

I get through my classes and then it's time for work. I work at a small pharmacy three blocks away from home. I get changed and start walking to work. But On the walk one of the bigger football guys are in front of me kicking a ball up and down on the phone to a friend I try not to eavesdrop but it gets the better of me
"no dude we never even dated she was just a root" he laughs to whoever is on the other end.

When I finally get to work he keeps walking ahead of me. Not even noticing my existence but of course that isn't new. I work the 7 hours and then finally shut the place up. It's 7:34pm and I'm starving so I choose to take the longer way home so I can stop in on McDonald's and get a burger or something.

So I begin my long walk while texting mom to tell her I'm getting food than coming home. I'm looking down at my phone when I hear the same guy that was laughing into the phone "hey, uh, girl!" I freeze. Is he talking to me?
"Excuse me!" He repeats and then I turn around "you dropped your purse" he says a soft smile. I'm grateful and take it back "thank you" I say just above a whisper "no worries just keep a good eye on it, not everyone is as honest as some" he winks at me, I feel my cheeks go red but I assume it's just because I'm not used to talking to guys.

"I, need to go.." I say and put my head down shoving my purse into my bag and leaving in a fast walk. "Stop!" I hear him say but by the time I look up. It's already hit me, I truck. Not one of those massive ones. The half ute/truck things. Yeah well that collides with my body throwing me. I don't make a sound, or well I'm pretty sure I don't. Before my body collides with a tree I see the truck leaving and the guy running to me. Than it goes black.

Christians POV-

I'm not quite sure what I just witnessed, I'm sitting here constantly checking if this small girl is okay, she looks fragile before but now she's really fragile. I've already called paramedics and they're on the way. They kept asking for her name but I didn't know.

She's breathing. Just tiny little breaths hardly noticeable, I'm trying to run through what happened in my head, she dropped her purse and I gave it back and than suddenly a ute flying into her.

I start shaking as the paramedics arrive pushing me away so they can do her job. They've ripped open he work uniform and I can see how small  and fragile her body is, bruised and ribs are flashing.

I go in the ambulance with her. Not for any particular reason. I just don't want her to wake up alone. My phone is non stop ringing off the hook my friends trying to get a hold of me as I was on the way to the bonfire tonight for Kevin's 18th. But I just have to make sure she'll be okay before anything. I feel like it's somewhat my fault.

I texted dad earlier to tell him I was heading to a bonfire and didn't bother waiting for his reply before I left. I watch them wheeling her away before I sit in the seat behind me with her phone and bags.
My phone rings again. And just before I hang up I see the contact say "dad" I answer and just sit it at my ear.  "Christian!" He says down the phone "you are not meant to be out on a school night and you know that, I suggest you find your way home ASAP boy!" He says loudly "dad" I shakily say instantly calming his anger with the tone of my voice
"Do you need me to come get you from the party? Are you okay?" He questions and I hear him looking for his Keys

I tell dad the story best I can "dad I don't know who she is but I'm sitting in the waiting room holding her stuff as if I do know who she is?" I say questioning myself now looking down at her stuff. "I'm on my way Chris, we will find who she is okay son? Stay there I'm coming"

I'm just sitting here shaking when dad arrives "oh son" he mumbles sitting behind me putting a comforting hand on my back. "Have you heard anything?" He asks.

Before I can answer her phone goes off as she's received a text
'Hey honey, it's been nearly 2 hours you should be home now, be quick darl'
The contact says 'mummy'
" I don't know dad do I text her back?" I ask looking down
"Honestly could be the best chance we have at getting her identity" he says. So I reply
'Hi sorry this isn't the girl your looking for, there was an accident and she's in hospital, I think she'll be okay but you might want to come down to the foxton hospital just in case she isn't, sorry to not call you-Christopher'
It doesn't take long for a reply as all it says is
'On my way!'

When the lady arrives she glances from side to side before notice her daughter stuff and coming over. "Where is she?! Where is my baby!" She says panting heavily. DaD calms her down. "She'll be okay, Chris told you what he knew" dad says sadly. "What happened?" She asks, "she dropped her purse and what must've been a drunk driver.." i let my head drop "I don't know" i finish and just one lone tear falls down my face.

The police come in and ask for me. I respond to my name and get up. Giving the statement. It wasn't easy they were all direct there wasn't any emotion or sympathy they just wanted to know. "Thank you Christian you're free to sit with your father" they say dismissing me. I sit down and just close my eyes. Thinking. Maybe if I had just left her alone she wouldn't have been hurt? What is going to happen now? I don't know what the doctors are in there doing to her but it's been hours.

At around 2am a doctor comes out "Bella twins family?" He announces her mum instantly getting up and walking to him, I stop and think for just a second. The name is familiar I remember hearing it at...school! She goes to my school! I smile a little at the final thought before Bellas mother collapses crying, dad rushes to her aid helping her up. "My baby" she sobs.

She looks over at me "thank you for saving her life, what you did was amazing thank you" she says upset. "We will leave now" my father says not asking me.
So we leave. We leave Bella and we leave her disheartened mother sitting there. Just crying. And we go home.
