Ch 86 (colin) - What Have I Done?

Start from the beginning

It was then that Colin saw the wicked witch's ghost walk out of the kitchen as if she had been in there with him alone the whole time. He knew then something was wrong especially since it was taking so long for Stacy to return. He quickly walked to the downstairs bathroom and saw it had been used because the hand towel had been placed on the sink. Stepping back from the stairs Colin caught the glimpse of the witch's ghost with the long legs on the second story disappearing past the wall. He knew the bitch was up to something. He was just hoping it wasn't Stacy. He half ran upstairs and saw that Nate's bedroom door was open. The thirty seconds it took to walk the hallway felt like it stretched into minutes the closer he got. He hated how the house made him feel like that. Finally Colin was at the door with only Stacy inside.

She was holding the dagger in her hand and mumbling. He knew she knew about the dagger being Jolene's murder weapon, because he heard her say it which shook him to his core. He was so scared and angry at the same time because of the violation she committed walking into Nate's room and for finding the knife. He then knew for sure his son was involved in Jolene's murder and felt an overwhelming sense to protect Nate at all costs.

Colin had stepped inside the room and told her.

"I've never seen that knife before."

"But I have. And I don't think this is Anna's room."

"No, it's not."

"Is it yours?" Stacy asked looking like a scared little doe. He no longer felt attraction to her as he pulled back from a different time. Instead he felt anger from the reminder of expressions Tessa gave him a lot when he was around towards the end of their marriage. Colin had never laid a hand on Tessa before the night he beat her at the cabin, but she knew acting like he did angered him more. Colin was having a hard time separating Stacy from Tessa.

"I just told you I've never seen the knife before so no, it's not my room." Colin said half blocking the door way. The light from the rising moon through the window reflected on the snow to fill half of the bedroom.

"Colin, please, you're scaring me." Stacy said and Colin froze for a moment for Stacy even sounded like Tessa when she whined. His body started to react in excitement and hate. His heart was racing much too loudly in the much too quiet room.

"What are we going to do about this Stacy?" Colin said as Stacy was heading towards him. He barely finished his sentence as a fist landed into his lips making his head jerk back. Then his body was hit by hers knocking him off balance and she fell landing on top of him, her knee scraping his testicles. Red hot hallow pain filled his abdomen. Stacy recovered quicker than Colin did as he felt a bunch of blows from her fists strike his face and body. She used the dagger she picked off the floor that had fallen out of her hand and cut the side of his ribs which would have stuck in his body had he not rolled out of the way.

Colin jumped to his feet as his blood flowed hot like lava. His eyes felt luminescent and pain no longer hurt. Stacy again plunged towards him with the blade grabbing beams from the moonlight. She ran down the hall and he followed her to tackle her down. His body slammed into the banister as he caught her getting to her feet. Colin quickly got to his.

To avoid her sticking the dagger in him he pushed the knife away with one hand as he half turned her and grabbed her around the neck with his muscular arm. She had dropped the dagger and they both saw it had only fallen a few feet away from them. Colin squeezed pressure on both sides of Stacy's neck just to calm her down and make her listen to him but Stacy's adrenaline was working harder than his was. Stacy struggled and kicked at Colin's legs while he held her throat in the crook of his arm afraid to crush her windpipe. She was able to get in a few shots to his ribs which made him tighten his grip just a bit more in order to make her let go of his hair. He turned and lifted her by his hip but she fought him and because her leg lifted to push off the banister, she threw them both off balance which made them flip over the ledge. He heard Stacy's neck snap as she twisted in his arm before she fell and hit the floor in a contorted heap. Colin was able to hold on to the railing and pulled himself back over it to land on the floor where he lay for a moment to catch his breath. The dagger was close by to mock him.
