Coffee.

What?

Coffee.

Coffee. Coffee. Coffee.

I stand up, not really realizing I stood up, and walk to the bathroom.

Coffee.

Wait. I can't see. Ugh.

Glasses.

I walk back towards my bedside table and plop on my bed, but not realizing I plopped on my bed.

Coffee.

I'm in a coffee shop, a nice one. I have a steaming cup in my hands, but I can't feel the heat from it. Odd.

A zebra comes through the door and says, "Mel! Haven't talked to you in a bit, how's it going?" He sat down across from me and stared into my eyes, his long eyelashes blinking rapidly.

"Uh.." I started, a bit confused.

I tried to take a sip of my coffee, but it turned into my phone.

My phone?

My phone.

I woke up with a start, reaching for my phone to turn off the alarm.

I groggily got out of bed, put on my glasses, and made my way downstairs for some coffee.

Coffee.

Man, I need coffee right now.

When I reach the lower floor, I'm met with Ceri, who's sipping on some tea, playing music, and cheerfully tidying up the room.

I hate morning people.

Don't say that. I don't hate Ceri. She's great, but people shouldn't be in a good mood when I'm not.

Coffee.

"Where's the coffee?" I ask Ceri, who's now reading an old magazine on Michael Jackson or something. She's obsessed with him.

"Hm?" She replied, distracted. Her face suddenly got super dark, and she stared me straight in the face.

"Mel?" She said my name.

"Yes?" I replied, warily.

"I have to tell you something, and It's very important. I need your attention." She kept her eyes fixed on mine.

"Uh-huh. You got it."

"Ok," she started, "I've been keeping this in for a while, wanting to tell you, but not finding the opportunity." She started to stand up. I was a bit scared now. She continued, "I wasn't sure how this would affect you, and I've been worrying about it for ages now. I think this is the right time to say this, but I don't know how you'll think of me afterward." She looked dead serious and was even starting to tear up a bit.

I was very concerned now.

"It's ok, you can tell me anything, you know that," I said.

"Ok." She took a deep breath. "The coffee's out."

"What? That was all?"

She grinned. "How was that?"

"How was what?" I said angrily.

"My acting skills, duh." She sat herself back down on the sofa and flipped open her magazine again.

I rolled my eyes. All I knew was that I needed coffee.

"Oh, I saw this little coffee shop on 5th street, you should check it out. They've got cute baristas," said Ceri, raising her eyebrows and doing a cheesy wink, knowing that I didn't have a boyfriend.
