"What do you want me to say?" I groaned. Sometimes I swore my dad was trying to get rid of me. Ever since I turned 20 my dad took every opportunity to get me out of the house. Whether it was vacations, hanging out with friends, suggesting I go to parties or on dates, anything that would get me out of the house. It's not that I was a hermit or anti-social but I was more of an independent person and when I had free time I would much rather spend it at home or with my dogs or my horses.

"I don't want you to say anything Kyls, I want you to go out and have fun. When was the last time you went out with your friends?" He pushed.

"Last week dad, last week I went out with Tyler and Hannah!" I screamed. I didn't know whether he actually forget or was trying to dumb me into it.

"Just go out Kylie, go, go have fun with your friends while you're young." He insisted once again.

"Are you trying to suggest I should go out to a wild party, get drunk, hook up with some random stranger and potentially get pregnant or get an STD? Is that what you want?" I poked. I saw his face drop, obviously disappointed with that idea.

"Okay Kylie do what you want." He turned and walked back into the kitchen.

It's not that I didn't want to go out with my friends, and I likely would but I hated that my dad tried to push me. Sometimes he needed to back off and let me do what I wanted to do.

"Have you ever been here?" I asked, I forgot where we were going, someone Italian restaurant that I'd never heard of.

"Ya like once, it was so good." She replied. Hannah was one of my best friends, we'd met when I first moved here to Ottawa and we rode and kept our horses at the same barn. Tyler was her boyfriend, he was a year or so older than her but he was an awesome guy. He played hockey and was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche last year but spent the remainder of that year playing in the minor leagues here in Ontario.

The restaurant was nice but it wasn't too formal which was perfect for me because as much as I enjoyed dressing up and looking fancy I wasn't in the mood to do so.

Once we were seated and had ordered something to drink we all hid our heads behind our menus to try and decide what we were going to eat.

"What are you thinking Ky?" Hannah asked, looking up from her menu.

I scanned the page again before looking up, "Not sure, probably one of the pastas."

"You and your pasta," she laughed, "What about you babe?" She turned her gaze to Tyler.

"Steak." He replied.

She looked at me, we both giggled together, Tyler always ordered steak when we were out for dinner, no matter where we were it was always steak.

Contrary to what we thought, since the restaurant was quite busy, the food came out surprisingly quickly. I had chosen the seafood linguini which looked absolutely delicious.

"So Ky you know that we're going to Colorado in a week right?" She looked towards me, waiting for my response. I nodded. She'd told me a few weeks ago that her and Tyler were heading to Colorado for an event with the Colorado team. It was some party or gala type event to meet all the rookies and so that the rookies could meet the players and coaches.

"So I was gonna say that you should come with us, you can hang out with me while he's training and everything."

I didn't know what to say, that was a crazy thought to go all the way to Colorado for 2 months.

"Are you kidding me?"

"No it would be awesome! We could hang out, go shopping, basically just take over Denver while he's out training and stuff." She seemed so excited about this, as if I had already said yes.

"I don't know Hannah, that's ridiculous, leaving for two whole months. What do you think my dad would say? Like oh hey dad I've decided I'm gonna go to Colorado for two months, oh and I'm leaving in like two weeks."

"Uh yeah, you're 20 years old Kylie you don't need your dad's permission to go somewhere."

She was right about that but still I wasn't sure whether I actually wanted to go away to Colorado for two months.

Dinner was fun, Hannah eventually dropped the whole topic of going to Colorado although I never stopped thinking about it. As much as I totally wanted to go it just didn't seem like the best time. I had so many things going on right now and it is crazy to think I could just leave for two months. Although, knowing Hannah she would eventually convince me to go as that is normally what ended up happening.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
