Lights blinded her eyes as she placed one foot in front of the other. Her nine inch heels clicking were barely audible over the sound of chattering, loud music, and the clicks of cameras. As she walked towards the end of the glass looking runway, she flashed a quick smile as she held onto the side of her long mesh pink dress and did a turn, then walked back down as another dark skinned model walked her way with a still robot like face. She always envied models who could walk down the runway and have no facial expressions what-so-ever, it was the only thing she never managed to do on the runway, and the only thing her managers are so critical about.
"Hurry, one more change after this girl..." one of the stylist panicked as he unbuttoned the back of Normani's dress and stripped her of it. She quickly stepped out of the pool of fabric beneath her feat and stepped into a emerald colored jump suit covered in as he pulled it up and zipped it for the girl. "Dinah's fixing your makeup, it smudged." He said as he pointed to the long haired blonde doing some other model's lip liner.
Normani nodded and took off her shoes and put on her matching green heels as she ran to Dinah's chair. Dinah swooshed the other girl out of her seat and motioned for Normani to take a seat.
"Get your hair out of your face I cant see." The tall tan girl commanded as Normani nodded and stuck the wig behind her ears. "Ugh, I don't know why they thought it was a good idea to put a fucking wig with bangs on you while you have this dramatic ass eyeshadow all the way up to your brows..." Dinah complained as she held up Normani's fake bangs and pinned them.
Normani has always been intimidated by everyone in this industry, but not as much as Dinah, she was very important here. Hernandez's best makeup artist. She was an absolute talent when it came to makeup.
Dinah held a makeup brush between her teeth as she sprayed something on Normani's face, catching the girl off guard, "Don't flinch, you're messing it up more." Dinah rolled her eyes as she took the thin brush from her mouth and drew a fine line connecting the eyeliner wing to her eyebrow. The blonde filled the empty space with pressed gold eyeshadow and turned the chair around to face the mirror so Normani could see.
"Wow." Normani said in shock.
"Mhmm, now go there are only two people ahead of you." Dinah said as she basically pushed the girl out of the chair after she unclipped her bangs.
Normani rushed in line, cutting a few girls who didn't even say anything. She thought all the models here were basically robots. They never showed any emotion at any time, even at parties they always stuck together in a little posey and just talked, they didn't even laugh. Normani thought that they were probably raised to never laugh or cry, it was weird.
Before she knew it, she was shoved back on the runway. Trying her best to focus ahead of her, on nothing specific. But she couldn't help when the ends of her lips curved up a bit. She made her turn and walked back down.
Finally, she changed once more, into the most extra dress she's ever worn, surprisingly because she's been one of Ally's models for almost a year now.
Three people had to help her get into this huge, long dress. It was made out of colorful feather looking fabric, with a huge red, blue, and yellow feathered collar. She looked like a giant parrot.
She took a deep breath and got in line, where about fifteen other people were lined up, going out one by one, leaving a small gap for the other person to follow along. She walked out and looked at the back of the person's head in front of her, and didn't dare to take her eyes off of her neck.
Before she knew it, all of the models were lined up, posing, as cameras went off like crazy. They walked off in formation, again one by one. And all of the backstage crew were cheering because the show was finally done. Normani let out a breath she didn't know she was holding and let out a relived laugh.
