Rebirth

None can allay a pain ascending,

For this agony seems never-ending.

I screech out "Nevermore!",

As it burns on through the night.

I cannot survive! I cannot endure!

What accumulates with fright.

"Help!" I screech in haunting pain.

My heart, my soul, has begun to wane.

I'm on my knees, enfeebled,

Weakened by the torment.

My resolve is wholly futile,

As my very soul goes dormant.

In my addled desperation,

I beg the Lord to spare me.

From this cold-blooded disease,

This mirthless malady.

Naught! He takes my sanity!

My reality has fled-

My heart stolen from my chest,

Thoughts taken from my head.

My pallid skin is crawling,

My gaping eyes aghast.

As l gaze upon the mirror,

And fathom what's been lost.

Beneath paper skin, a torpid soul resides.

Emptiness in my chest,

No heartbeat left inside.

Sunken sockets gape,

Where lucid eyes once stood.

My body lacking shape,

Weak bones splintering like wood.

Tainted blood pools on the floor,

From the knife plunged in my back.

There's nothing left to pour,

Since a pulse is what l lack.

Trapped within a living death,

Left resentful on the earth.

I tremor at the indignant theft,

In this undeserved rebirth.

Listen closely to what l to say-

For you didn't earn my words.

If l catch you before dawn,

I'll infect you too.

Now, I'm telling you, be gone!

Before the madness spreads to you.
