The Call of the Void- Chapter 13- Visualize a Monster

Start from the beginning

“I'm folding shit. You got a problem with that?”, Seamus says, his head remaining bowed over the piece of paper.

Kevin shakes his head. “Anyway, you still haven't answer my question. What the hell are you going to do with him?”

“I told you. I'm gonna keep him around.”

“Okay, I understand that part. But what about when he's no fun anymore? Then you kill him?”

“I could just keep him around and wait for Aleks to come home. Let him see Aleks and then chop his head right off his shoulders.”, Seamus runs his fingernail along the latest fold. “Or I could gouge his eyes out right now to make sure he never looks at Aleks again or cut his lips off so he knows not to talk to Aleks ever again...”

“Okay, obviously you're in some kind of pissing contest with him right now even though he is in not position to even attempt to give you any sort of competition. What's going on?”

Seamus shrugs. “He just needs to know his place.”

“Is this about Aleks?”

Seamus lifts his head, narrowing his eyes at Kevin. “Please. I really don't give a shit about Eddie's romantic feelings for him, but I do give a shit if he's going to be calling and talking to my guy as if he has any right to a relationship with him.”

Kevin's mouth form a small grin. “I never mentioned anything about romantic feelings. And your guy?”

Seamus' eyes widen as he realizes what he just said. He lowers his head to continue folding his piece of paper.

“You're hot for Aleks, aren't you? Fucking hell, are you cheating on me, Seamus?”, Kevin is only half joking.

“No... No! It's not like that. I just have a problem with people like Sly trying to change Aleks into something he shouldn't be. He's at his best when he's with me. He can be himself with me.”

“Sounds a hell of a lot like a little schoolgirl's crush to me.”, Kevin smirks.

“I am hardly the kind of person to have a schoolgirl crush.”, Seamus rolls his eyes. He makes the last fold on his piece of paper and stands it up on the desk. He smiles at it proudly, adjusting the fold on the wings with two of his fingers.

“What the fuck is that?”, Kevin asks.

“It's a paper crane, obviously.”

“Why the hell did you make a paper crane?”

“To give Eddie some company. He must be getting lonely down in that basement. I didn't leave him much in the form of entertainment when we moved him down there.”, Seamus explains, bending the head back a bit more.

“You fucked up the folds here, here and here.”, Kevin says, using his index finger to point out Seamus' every mistake.

“Fuck off.”, Seamus growls, reaching for a pen to inscribe something on the bird's wings. He flattens his fingers underneath the wings while his other hand writes out his two words of choice. Kevin watches with interest. Only a few seconds after, Seamus closes up the pen and puts it back in the cup. He stands from his desk chair, Kevin's eyes following him curiously the whole way.

“Wait... what did you write?”

“That's between me and Eddie.”, Seamus says over his shoulder as he departs.

When Eddie wakes up from his cat nap in Seamus' basement, he spies a paper crane on the side of his pillow. On the wings, there's dark, tilted writing.

He's mine.
