Chapter 1

Previous on Loving harder-

I finally arrived in Maine a few days later I started to unpack my things but I realized i need a late night Starbucks run.

I ordered my drink and it quickly was made. Running out the door i ran straight in a solid chest.

"O my gosh i am so sorry."

"it's okay love."

And right there I couldn't forget the sexy and charming Irish voice that had me head over heels my freshman year in college.

"Killian". I breathe out

"Looks like you saved your coffee this time." He says smirking

I couldn't respond but i only thought maybe we are fate.

  "Emma is something wrong." he ask in concerned voice

"No, no i am just surprised to see you in Maine."

"Yeah I took up a teaching job. Doesn't pay as much but its a good job."

"That's awesome Killian." I say with a smile on my face.

"I would love to catch up and chat but right now isn't the best time."

"Oh okay sorry for keeping you."

"It's okay love. Its a small town we will see each other again. Bye miss Swan."

"Bye." I say weekly as he turns to leave. There's a pinch in my heart when i see him climb in a car with an other woman giving her kiss before driving off.

I sigh and jump into my own car and head back to my apartment to unpack the rest of the furniture.

When Monday morning rolls around I am already miserable my step is going on cases to now donut runs and reorganizing cases from past cases.

I slam the boxes on there correct shelves before taking the day off and walking to the docks to get my lunch before heading back home.

As I start to unwrap my sandwich at one of the benches i feel someone sitting next to me. I look sideways to see Killian looking at the water edges splashing against the docks.

"I remember being so scared to come back to water , but now i cant stay away. Its my escape from the world."

What he is saying takes me back to our late night conversations about his father and his brother. About his fear of the ocean and being back.

I gently lay my hand and on top of his "I am happy you found peace with it."

He stayed quiet and continued to look out into the water before wrapping his larger hand with mine and giving it gentle squeeze.

"It wasn't that easy to fine peace." He finally says "but I found my peace within you Emma and it kept me going."

I breathe out a shaky breath and smile to myself has we sit together with our hand tangled together and our hearts getting closer.
