"Willow?!" The person dressed in black that I had followed had an astonished look on his face. He had tan skin, an attractive face, but I just couldn't place who this boy was. "Are you kidding me Willow? You don't recognize me?"

"I.. I.. I'm sorry. I mean I...I kinda.."

"Lucas? You don't remember me? You have got to be kidding Willow."

"Um, are you from the maze?" I felt so bad asking. Surely if I had survived the maze with this guy I would have remembered him.

"Oh my gosh!" He slapped his hand to his forehead as he raised from his squatted position. He let go of his gun to let the strap catch it, letting it hang. "I completely forgot," He said as he slid his hand onto my cheek. I recoiled from his touch. I didn't even know this boy who claimed we knew each other. He didn't acknowledge me pulling away from his touch, and kept talking. "They erased your memories. I didn't find this out until I had joined the program. I watched you go through the maze Willow. We were best friends before you left. But I guess we will have to become friends all over again." Lucas gave me a toothy grin, like a small child. Any apprehension I had about him before melted away. I was about to ask him more questions when a booming woman's voice came onto the speaker.

"I need everyone to get to their assigned lab rooms. If you are not a lab researcher report to the main problem immediately." She had an edge to her voice and a sense of emergency. Lucas didn't seem fazed by the announcement. He just turned to me and stared.

"Well, I'm assuming you aren't a lab researcher." I chuckled at the lack of his lab coat and his large gun that hung around his armored clothes.

"You have got that right. I don't see how you do it. Well, I've gotta 'get to the main problem immediately'." he held up air quotations and flashed a grin.

"This whole place is the main problem," I mumbled. He chuckled and nodded.

"You've got that right. I'll find you another time Willow and we will catch up. I'll explain everything." He punched my shoulder lightly in a brother-type way and with that, he jogged away. We had a lot of catching up to do. He believes I'm actually a lab researcher.
