 You are the perfect drug
Take me with you
Without you, everything  falls apart
Without you, it's not as much fun to pick up the pieces

I walked through the streets of LA, listening to music on my phone, not really paying attention to anything. My mood was as stormy as the day, and I just couldn't bring myself to care about life in general. I took my earbuds out to readjust them, the stupid things were always falling apart on me. Just as I was about to put them back in, I heard a weird noise coming from an alley. Checking out alleys in cities with high crime rates, especially while alone is never a good idea, but with my curiosity being as insatiable as it is, I couldn't help myself. Besides, I had hours before I was supposed to go see my friend Mark, why not do a bit of exploring? I turned the corner and saw a dog. A big, black dog to be exact. He didn't seem to see me. I love dogs, but I know a thing or two about approaching strays, so I kept my distance, watching him scratch himself, sneeze, and sit down, almosts appearing to be waiting for someone. "God dammit, Dark I told you to wait on me." I saw a woman, she couldn't have been much older than me approaching from the opposite side of the alley. "I told you I don't wait on anyone." the dog replied. Bullshit, I'm seeing things or something. Dogs don't talk. I began wondering if I had eaten something....strange after landing here. I couldn't think of anything. "Well if you weren't so slow, you wouldn't have to ask me to wait." the dog said. "Sorry that I can't jump off of skyscrapers without dying." Jumping off of skyscrapers? I looked up. Yeah, I was definitely standing behind one of those. A nice one, at that. Looked to be a residential building to me. That must've been the strange noise I heard earlier. What the fuck was going on? This had to be a joke. Right? The woman just sighed heavily and informed the dog that she was putting him on a leash. "Yeah, dream the fuck on, that's not happening." the dog said, pulling away. "There's a leash law, Dark, if you want me to take you to the dog run so I can ask that lady you're so interested in fucking to walk you for me, you have to wear it." He growled. "Fine." he said, allowing her to put the leash on him. "Thank you...I can't believe I'm helping you do this. Why am I, anyway? Can't you just go talk to her as yourself?" "I can, but she's way more interested in dogs than people. You saw her the other day, she only cares about dogs." I heard the clicking of a dog's nails on the concrete. They're coming toward me. I didn't know what to do. I watched the lady walk the dog by me and her eyes got huge. "Oh shit." she said. I knew at that moment I'd seen something I shouldn't have seen. The dog looked over at me. "You know what to do." he said to the woman walking him. I felt like screaming, but I couldn't bring myself to. Instead, I just let her grab me like I weighed nothing at all. "To my place." the dog said. "I guess fucking with that lady is gonna have to wait until later." I questioned reality so hard as the duo led me into arguably the most beautiful penthouse on the earth. I took in my surroundings. When I turned around the dog was no longer a dog. He was a...person? Maybe? "Eavesdropping is rude, you know. What's your name?" he asked. "(Y/N). Who are you?" He pulled out a knife."I think you already know, but if you don't it really doesn't matter. Diagonal, vertical, or horizontal? If you're an organ donor, I'll just slit your throat. Can't waste organs, you know." I whimpered as he walked closer to me, his female friend stayed far back from the developing situation. "What the fuck?" I asked, feeling scared half to death. "Whatever it is you want me to do, I'll do it. I don't even live here, I'm just here to see my friend Mark." He stopped approaching me. "Wait a second, I know you." he said, pointing at me with the blade of the knife. He realized that he was still making threatening gestures, and stopped immediately. "Jesus, in my thousands of years of life I thought that demons didn't forget, therefore there was no one I couldn't remember meeting, but I was wrong...I totally didn't recognize you. Come here, (y/n)." he said, extending his arms. "No fucking way, just let me go whatever you are. You're fucking insane!" I took off, but he stopped me, spinning me around to face him. "It's me. Dark. Mark's demon. Remember? We met once a long, long time ago." I was confused. "What?" I asked, staring at him. "Do you remember me?" he asked. "Y-yes, but I don't remember you being like this." "Things have changed (y/n)." he said. "A lot. It's good to see you. Sorry about the attempted murder." He seemed to be under the impression that I was just going to forget that he had been plotting to kill me seconds ago. I stared at him, unable to move. "Alright, I broke you, my bad. Lay down for a second or something. You look pretty...unwell." He led me to the couch and basicall pushed me onto it. My whole body was numb and tensed, so I laid there, staring straight up. His friend spoke to him from across the room, stating that she'd be back to help him with his little mission after we caught up. He thanked her, gave her a smack on the ass and blew her a kiss as she walked out the door. "So it's nice to see you again." Dark said, sitting on the couch by my feet. I said nothing. "Damn, you're really freaked out aren't you?" he asked, almost laughing. I found my tongue and sat up. "How would you feel if someone tried killing you?" I asked. "I would laugh. I'm fucking immortal, you moron." he said. I huffed. "Look, I said I was sorry." I rolled my eyes. "Apologizing for attempting to murder someone is fucking idiotic." I said. "Well what do you want me to do?" he asked. "Let me go." I suggested. "You just got here." he protested. "Mark can wait. I can't I'm a busy dude." I looked around. "You seem pretty...not busy to me." he sighed. "Look, I'm not going to keep you here like a prisoner, but I do have to tell you a few things before you go." He went on to explain how he went from being a normal blood demon to a humanized one, and what that meant. "So basically it's a secret your life depends on you not telling." he said. I nodded. "Alright, well I guess you came to see Mark, so you'd better head over there." "Actually, I have some time." I said. "Oh?" Dark questioned. "Yeah...I told Mark I wouldn't be over until later...I kinda woke up in a bad mood and didn't want to drag him down with it." Dark chuckled. "Bad moods are kinda my thing. Bring your bad vibes over here, girl." he said. I laughed. "Alright, fair enough." I replied. I heard a peal of thunder. "I suppose you like this weather, too?" I asked. "Yep. Sunshine irritates me." he said. I wasn't much for sun either. We stared at each other for awhile. "So you're trying to chase a woman?" I asked. He laughed. "God...not exactly. I'm just trying to get felt up." I laughed. "Well you've developed into a real gentleman." I said. "As far as demons go, I'm nice." he said. "I can see that." I replied. We were quiet for a moment. "I really am sorry I tried to kill you." he said. "It's fine." I said, looking away. "I get it now. This is crazy dude. I mean the odds of something like this happening are barely a step above 0 percent." He nodded. "Right?" he replied. "I'm just glad that it was you who overheard me and my friend and not someone I actually had to kill. It's not that I mind killing people, it's just not a good thing to get caught, you know? It's a pain." "I'm sure it is, Dark." He kept staring at me funny. I waved my hand in front of him. "You're the one looking a bit unwell now." I said. "I'm fine, trust me." he said. "Totally fine." He didn't seem to be. "You sure?" he asked. "Yeah,I'm fine, but you are too." I was confused, but then I caught his compliment. "So I've been told." I said, playing with my hair, suddenly feeling a bit flushed. "Well whoever told you definitely didn't lie." he said, moving closer. "I kinda like the way you're breathing right now." God, he was perfectly seductive. I moved closer to him and our lips connected quickly.
