Chapter 12 - Tomlinson

Start from the beginning

Yeah, that’s a plan.

I turn off the faucet but stay there for a bit longer, letting the drops slide down my body before I actually step out to grab a towel. It doesn’t take me long to be ready and finally grab my bag and leave the lockers.

I don’t expect to find anyone so I’m actually surprised when I walk into Bea, one of the cheerleaders that are normally around the field. Sometimes they practice in the gym, sometimes by the field.

“Louis! I was looking for you,” she says walking up to me.

I stop the moment I see her and once she says those words, a frown comes to my face. Looking for me? Why would Bea be looking for me? That doesn’t make sense.

“Me?” I ask and she giggles as she stands next to me, looping her arm around mine, making me frown even deeper.

“Yes you, silly,” Bea giggles. “I never see you after practice now.”

“I uh… I stay a bit longer on the field,” I say and she smiles widely at me.

“You’re doing so much better now, amazing to be honest.”

“Uh, thanks?” I say, not sure if that’s the right answer. It feels really weird that one of the cheerleaders is looking for me, talking to me. I’ve always been one of the low-profile players.

“You were so great in the last game and in the practices! We’re all impressed,” she says again and this time she starts walking, dragging me.

“We?”

“Yes, silly! The whole cheerleading team. We’ve been watching you and I had to be the first to come to you and congratulate your personally. I couldn’t let Lily to come first,” she says, the last part in a whisper and I frown even deeper, so confused.

We keep walking and I can’t overcome the shock of having Bea here, hanging from my arm as we walk away from the lockers. I know I have improved and people have noticed, but to be honest, all the people I care to notice me are coach Meyer and Robin. The cheerleaders and my other teammates are just there, I don’t really mind if the others think I’m better and I deserve their attention, I’ve never wanted their attention to begin with.

“Oh well, thanks,” I say still a bit shocked and trying to get rid of her, but she stills holds on tightly. “It’s really nice of you, Bea.”

“You should invite me something to drink, you know? We could have fun,” she suggests, leaning even closer and I try to step away from her.

Well, maybe I’m old-fashioned or I just don’t like Bea, but I don’t like how she put that, plus, I’m only interest on one girl. And now that we talk and she remembers me, I don’t really want to move on from her, and especially not with Bea.

“Uh I— well this um. I’m really busy with practice and everything, you know? I really don’t have time,” I say and she stops, frowning at me again, utterly confused.

“What?”

Well, I guess she wasn’t expecting a rejection. Probably she’s not used to that. Bea is actually hot, with black long hair, the body of a typical cheerleader, with green eyes and thick lips, kind of like Megan Fox, but I don’t know, she’s just not Robin.

“Yeah, sorry, but I really don’ have time.”

“Oh,” is the only sound she makes before she lets go of my arm and steps away.

“And uh… I have an essay to work on so I really gotta get going. See ya, Bea,” I say waving goodbye and she still looks awestruck so I hurry to leave before she says something else.

I feel a bit bad for being so blunt at rejecting her, but I’m really not interested in going out with any other girl if not Robin. I’ve had a crush on her for so long, it’d be stupid to give up now that I’ve finally made some progress even if we are only in this friendly zone.

I hurry to my room and no, it’s not because I have an essay to work on, that was honestly a big fat lie. I just wanted to get rid of Bea. When I walk inside I find Harry and no, he’s not studying, he’s strumming his old guitar, playing chords at random until he notices I’m there.

“Hey mate, how was practice today?” He asks putting the guitar aside and I guess I still have a frown on my face because now Harry frowns. “Did something happen? Don’t tell me Robin got back with Connor.”

I lose my frown as annoyance kicks in and I really want to hit Harry for saying that. Robin and Connor again would be the worse case scenario and come on, Robin would never do that. She’s a clever girl, she learns from her mistakes. She’d never get back together with that douche.

“Don’t be stupid, Harry!” I say and smack his head.

“Oi! I was just guessing something that would put that expression on your face. Not my fault that you look constipated.”

I arch my eyebrows at his word choice and shake my head, throwing my bag to the floor and lying on my bed.

“No, nothing happened with Robin but something weird happened, I guess. You know Bea, right? One of the cheerleaders.”

“Yeah, she’s hot,” Harry answers and I roll my eyes.

“Yeah, her. Well, she approached me today, even after I stayed for another hour and well, um, kinda asked me out.”

“Woah! Well done, mate!” Harry celebrates and I roll my eyes again.

“Don’t get excited, I turned her down. I’m not interested in her,” she’s not Robin, I add in my mind but although I don’t say that part out loud, I’m sure he knows exactly what’s in my mind.

Harry stares at me with a cheeky grin and I look away, feeling heat in my cheeks for I’ve been caught. “Cheers, mate,” Harry speaks and I still avoid his gaze. “You’re totally whipped. I hope Robin appreciates that you turned down one of the hottest girls in campus.”

“Shut up,” I say grabbing my pillow and throwing it at him. “I’m tired.”

“Oh, little Louis wants to take a nap so he can dream of Robin?” Harry mocks me and if I weren’t as tired as I am, I’d be trying to kill him right now.

“One day I’ll throw at you my whole bed, Harry.”

“After you wake up from your dreams with Robin, right?”

And that’s it. Tired or not, I’m going to kill him.
