Yanking on Bits

K, first of all STOP.

IT. HURTS. YOUR. HORSE.

I love barrel racing and do a bit of it myself. BUT if you've got this big ass gag or shank bit and you are yanking your poor horse around a barrel I will beat you with your over under.

I can understand accidentally pulling too hard once in awhile but every time? Aw hell naw. Plus why do you need that big of a bit if you're not eVEN GOING TO USE IT PROPERLY??? Leverage bits are made for neck reining.

And before my fellow western riders rip my head off, I see this in English too. I was at a show with a friend and this girl kept yanking her horse's mouth around because he was a little antsy. And she was using a double bridle. It made me so mad. I was about to beat her with her crop.

All in all, don't pull hard on your horse's mouth. It hurts them a lot. I don't care what discipline you ride or what your trainer says. DON'T DO IT.

It's not the bits that are mean it's the hands of the rider.
