Chapter Twenty three

Start from the beginning

"Shit!... You scared the hell outta me" she said, recovering from the shock.

"Where's my dad?" I asked wearily. Seeing her made me feel guilty that I'd gone to see my mum, she was everything a mother should be.

"Out with friends. Are you okay? You seem a little tense."

"I'm fine." I said, rather quickly. "I'm gonna be at Ayla's." I said, heading for the door. "Probably gonna spend the night over at her place."

"Okay. Call If you need anything." She called after me.

I opened the door and walked out into the cold evening. It was late January, but the weather was still frosty.

I groaned when I saw whose car was at the driveway.

Leo

He was leaning leisurely on the car. But a nervous look registered on his face... A look that said he had been waiting long and was debating whether to go in or just wait a little longer.
He looked handsome in his black T-shirt and faded pants. But he was definitely the last person I wanted to see right now.
Definitely the last person I wanted to see ever.
When he noticed me, he came towards me. A nervous smile playing on his lips. I decided not to take off, but stay and listen to what he had to say.

"You look pretty." Was his first statement.
Was that supposed to soften me up?

"What do you want?" I asked tersely, hardly in the mood to entertain nonsense.

"I came... to apologise... I behaved like a complete jerk... I guess I was just jealous." He rubbed the back of his neck nervously.

"You had nothing to be jealous of. What happened with Fabian was a mistake, if you had just talked to me you would have known that."

"I know... I wasn't thinking... And Paula came onto me, I swear I didn't go after her."

"Didn't seem like you were shooing her off so its practically the same thing."

"You are really pissed aren't you." He asked looking forlorn.

Was I? Maybe I was, but I really liked him and he played with my feelings in the most disgusting way.

"I'd rather we end this conversation. I'm going out and you are delaying me." I said, walking past him.

"Can we talk some other time?"

"Don't count on it." I said curtly, hailing a cab.

"I can take you to wherever you are going." He offered.

A cab stopped in front of me. I turned to glare at him. "The last thing I want is to get into a car with you for even a nonasecond." I got into the cab, leaving Leo standing on the driveway, looking lost and sorry for himself.

"So where is this stud you dragged all of us out here to see?". Anji teased.
We were in Ayla's kitchen, helping her with some homemade pizza. She seemed to be glowing. I'd never seen her this happy, not even when she was with Julian.

" Oh he'll be here alright. He loves making a grand entry." Ayla said, adding pepperoni to the almost done pizza.

"How charming." Bells stated.

"I know right?" Ayla said, licking her fingers.

"You seem so into him. I've never seen you like this." Ellen said.

Glad I'm not the only one.

"Oh Ellen." She sighed dreamily. "I am really into him. It was love at first sight I'm telling you. It's more or less like what you and Ken have. I think he's the one."

"Ok, it's official... Our girl is totally hooked." Bells said as a matter-of-factly.

"And believe me you will too once you see him. He's a total hunk."

"Where's your mum?" I asked, noticing she wasn't in the house.

"Spending the weekend with her boyfriend. I just hope she doesn't marry the guy. He's so vain."

The doorbell rang.

"That must be him." Ayla squealed and literally hopped all the way to get the door.
The rest of us followed her into the living room.

"You guys I want you to meet Kyle. He's my newest favorite person." she said, which made it clear that they were not in a relationship. I had to admit, he was movie-star hot.

"Kyle, this is Ellen." she said and he shook hands with Ellen a fake smile plastered on his face.
"Hello" Ellen greeted.

"And Angelina." she went on.
"Nice to meet you."

"And Michelle." she finished off.

He looked at me with an intensity. As if undressing me with his eyes. It felt strange and I didn't like it. I it was purely lustful. But I seemed to be the only one who noticed. I made up my mind, I didn't like him one bit, and I didn't think he had good intentions with Ayla.

"Hey there." I said, taking his outstretched hand and I could've sworn he stroked the my wrist... Or maybe I imagined it.

Or did I?

I didn't like him one bit and I was stuck with him sending me dirty looks and Ayla gushing about him for the night.

It's definitely gonna a be a long long night.
