Sal tightened his grip on Neleh's hand and pulled her closer. He watched Q slowly rise to his feet and stare at Neleh, eyes wider than the moon. He walked over to her, not breaking eye contact, and stuck out his hand. Neleh hid behind Sal and let out a small growl. Q growled back and stepped closer to Neleh.
"Don't you know how to greet someone?" Q asked playfully.
"You're not a someone. You're a monster."
Neleh's voice was deep and slightly gurgled. Sal didn't know who to be more scared of, the terrifying monster or the random child. He decided to be scared of both of them and slowly backed away from them both. Q looked at Sal with slightly sad eyes, his normally happy expression turning into one of regret.
"Sal, what is she talking about?"
Looking off into the distance, Sal didn't answer. Sal felt like any explanation would sound absolutely ridiculous, so he thought it was best to just keep quiet. Q blinked slowly and asked Sal the same question. And again, Sal didn't answer. He was actually a bit scared that answering would trigger Q's...transformation.
"Please say something. Either of you. Just talk."
Sal was about to explain that nothing was going on, but Neleh had other plans. She spilled all the tea. Q listened carefully, glancing over at Sal every once and a while. He seemed so shocked by everything this small, random child was saying.
"I...did all that?" Q asked once Neleh had finished.
"That's not even all of it."
Sighing softly, Sal turned around and started to walk towards Central Park. He wasn't in the mood to stay for the long conversation that was arising between Neleh and Q. Before he could get even two feet away, Sal felt someone grab his shoulders.
"You let that happen?" Q was pissed. "How could you!? What the hell is wrong with you!?"
