⟨ BRAVE ⟩ ❝ And her love was the drug no one had ever cautioned him against. ❞ In which Omisha Gibbs wasn't the perfect Gryffindor by any means, but she would come to learn that her bravery wasn't by her anxiety. [ JAMES POTTER + FEM!OC | MARAUDERS...

❝ Anxiety has never been cute, just like OCD isn't quirky, bulimia and anorexia aren't sexy and those of us who struggle with depression are not 'angels who want to go home'. For the last fucking time, I'm not shy, I can't fucking move, and it's nobodies right to tell me to 'get over it'. ❞ — Omisha Gibbs, 1975.

WARNING! ( PLEASE NOTE, ANXIETY IS NOT A CHARECTER FLAW, ANXIETY IS NOT AN AESTHETIC, AND ANXEITY IS NOT POETRY. I do not intend to portray it is such. It is a metal illness that affects approx. 1 in every 13 people and in my writing here I intent to provide genuine and accurate representation of how anxiety affects young people. This story is not intended to romanticise mental illness or portray those of us who are affected by it in the wrong light. If any of this story's content comes off as harmful, romanization or inaccurate then please inform me either privately or in the comment sections and I will adapt the story sections where I can agree is fitting. I understand that my experiences as a teenager with anxiety are not the same as others, anxiety is experienced in many different ways and if something feels misrepresented to you then please point it out, I will not take any offense!
My oc, Omisha, will be used in this story to provide representation to young people who struggle anxiety and while she is a James oriented interest, her character stand up on its own. Please do not mistake James role in this story to be one of a knight in shining armour as he is not going to kiss all her problems away. As James is not written in very much detail in the original books, my take on James will be soft and motherly towards his friends, and while he will be still (true as ever to the books) be a bully to Severus Snape (who is a horrible greasy git for bullying literal children BUT that doesn't make bullying on James part okay either). This will be used as character development for him because at the end of the day James grew to be a better person as realised that what he did as a kid was wrong, and Snape continues to be a dick. The 'arrogant/cocky' take on James is very largely built by everything Snape says and while the fandom feeds into it in a lot of ways, I personally think it's bullshit and should be scrapped.
Other potential triggers include supernatural themes, depictions of struggle with mental illness, mentions of the severity of toxic masculinity, mentions of struggle with healthy vs unhealthy coping mechanisms and some manure content. ) THANK YOU, PLEASE ENJOY AND READ WITH CARE.
