Emily's POV

Today was Friday which meant tomorrow was The Script concert! I was so excited. I met up with Jessica at our usual place at our usual time. When I walked into Starbucks I saw Jessica just finishing up some of her homework. I guess I wasted all her time last night... Jessica usually come here or my place to do her work because she hates listening to her parents fight. "Hey Jess!" I said looking at all of her work she has done. Jessica would always work so hard.

"Hey Em! guess what? Tomorrow is the day!" She said with a huge smile on her face.

"I know I'm so excited! I've already planed my outfit and I started working on a poster!" I told Jessica.

"How have you had time to do all of that?" Jessica asked back.

"Well I woke up early this morning and I couldn't fall back to sleep." I said.

Jessica and I went over to get our usual drinks, the workers knew what we got everyday so we never had to tell them. "The usual please." We both said at the same time and laughed. Jessica and I both got deals on our drinks because we worked here Monday,Wednesday and Friday after school.

At school it was time for my science test. Gosh after all this hard work I hope I get a pass. Ahg I'm so nervous! I played some music to help me calm down. The song The Best Part by Francesca Fenton came on and it instantly made me feel better. Okay I can do this I said to myself as the paper touched my desk.

Jessica's POV

Emily and I had just finished work and we were heading back for a sleepover at her house.

"Oh yeah, I forgot to ask! How did your science test go?" Emily asked me.

"Oh um I think I did pretty good! I'm not really sure I either aced it or bombed it, ever get that feeling?" Emily replied.

"Yeah, well I hope you aced it! It seemed to me you knew your stuff pretty well!" I replied trying to keep Emily's hopes up.

When we got to Emily's house I texted my mom to let her know my plans. She probably didn't care, I doubt she would reply. When I went to write the text I looked at my phone and had 7 missed calls from my mom and 5 texts. I panicked. Why would my mom text and call me this much? She hardly ever talks to me. I open the texts and I read something so terrible that I never would wish upon anyone to ever read.

Mom

"Come home right away!

Jessica! Where are you?

Please answer your phone

Jessica?

Okay, there's no more time left. I'm just going to tell you. I'm getting on the first plane to Houston, Texas. Your father and I can no longer be together. I'm sorry it's so last minute but I need time. You may visit me anytime okay? I love you. Please call me."

She loves me? Was the first thought going through my head. Emily noticed something was up as soon as I read the texts.

"Jess what's wrong is everything okay?" Emily asked in a panic.

"I'm sorry I have to go I'll call you later." I ran out of Emily's house while having her yell at me asking what was happening from her porch. I called my mom as soon as possible but of corse it went to the answering machine. She must be on the plane. After sprinting home I found myself panting in the doorway. I yelled to my dad but got no answer. He was probably in some bar drinking away the pain. I quickly grabbed my phone and called him. Again, no answer. I left him a text

"Hey Dad, I'm really worried can you please call me? If everything okay? Please call me."

I sat on my bed thinking alone to myself. Could it have been my fault that they've split? I knew I wasn't really wanted here. Is this going to make a good outcome? Will I even see my mom again? Is my dad going to come home? Is my dad even alive? Will my parents ever make up? I just sat there. It was almost 1 am and my eyes felt so heavy but I couldn't sleep. Still no reply from my mom or dad. I looked at my phone and saw a lot of text and miss calls from Emily. I felt like I was able to talk to someone so I called Emily.

"Hello?" Emily answered not sounding awake. "Hi Em, it's Jess can I talk-" I was cut off.

"Jess are you okay? What happened I've been calling you all night. I didn't know if I should stop by are you okay?" Emily asked in a panic.

"Yeah, I'm fine just..." I started crying. I never cried, but this time I was crying a lot.

"Hey Jess, I'm coming over right now okay?" Emily said and hung up the phone.

Emily's POV

I knew I should have followed Jessica home. I knew I should have. What happened? I really hope she okay. I thought to myself as I jogged over to Jess's house. Once I got there I used there spare key in the mail box to open the door. I instantly knew her parents weren't home being there was no bickering or fighting going on. "Jess?" I called out.

"I'm up here." Jessica replied. I ran up the stairs towards Jessica's small bedroom.

"Jess, hun are you okay?" I asked her giving her a hug, knowing she needed one.

"Not really..." Jessica replied.

Jessica told me about everything that had happened. I felt so bad for her she didn't deserve it at all.
