I cherish the hugs I get from my parents each night when I go to bed. Because every time, they say, "I love you." And I know it's not from muscle memory, it's not from any sort of parent handbook that tells them they need to say it.
It's because it's true. They love me more than you ever could have, and I can't believe it took me so long to realize it. I'm just fine the way I am. I don't need anyone coming into my life and switching things up. My family is all I need.
