Invisible Strings

Chapter 6

She looked at Luhan only to find him looking really scared. “a-are you alright?” she asked him. Sweats suddenly formed on his forehead. “I-I can’t remember my past.” He stuttered. He can only remember the things that happened when he first came here. “why? Did something h-happen?” she worriedly asked. Luhan shook his head. “I d-don’t know. But all I can remember starts from when I first met you.” He nervously answered. Luhan was trembling but managed to run away from them as fast as he could. He was really scared. He doesn’t want them to see him at this state. He doesn’t want Minhee to think that he’s weak.” After a few minutes of constant running, Luhan’s pace got slower. Then Minhee suddenly appeared in front of him. He stopped and turned his back at her. But soon after, he felt soft and delicate arms, wrapping around him from behind. He faced her. *just this once.* Minhee thought. “I will never consider you as weak. Don’t ever forget that. You’re strong. For me, all of you…are strong.” She said while caressing his back. *she didn’t stutter.* Luhan thought. He hugged her back. “thank you, Minhee.”

When Luhan and Minhee came back, Luhan had a big smile plastered on his face. *I will be strong for our Minhee. My past doesn’t matter. It’s the present that’s more important.* he thought.  “you made us worried bro.” Sehun said and tapped Luhan’s shoulder. Kai rolled his eyes. Luhan saw it and smirked. “Okay everyone! Time is up. You may take your break and go back to your classroom.” Mr.Lee said as he stood at the middle of the field.

After an hour, everyone was already settled inside the room. Mr. Lee appeared. He looked scanned everyone. “Everyone’s close to their sidekicks now. Am I right?” he asked. “Yes, Sir.” The class chorused. “so for your next activity, I want everyone to be able to release your sidekick’s hidden power. To be able to do this, you must find the right word to trigger it. You may go outside if you want.” Mr. Lee continued. Everyone went outside and Minhee was the only one left. She went towards their teacher. “uhm Sir---”

“Oh Ms. Park! I forgot about you. It’s okay. You can just do whatever you want.” Mr. Lee said. He forgot that Minhee doesn’t have powers. “I have to tell you something, Sir.”

“What is it?”

“I’ve discovered my powers, Sir.”

“Powers?”

“Yes Sir. I have two powers. Is that normal?” Mr. Lee smiled. *another unexpected event from Minhee.* he thought. He looked at her sidekicks. Sehun was standing behind her, happily playing with her hair. Luhan was playing at her desk. Kai was staring outside the window, but sometimes glances at her. “to be honest, it is very rare. I will talk about this to the principal. But since you’ve discovered your power, why not find your right word?” Mr. Lee said. She nodded and stood at the middle of the room. She closed her eyes and got rid of her thoughts. She concentrated deep within her heart. She can hear everything. Even the tiny rustling of the bushes outside. “what does your heart says?” Mr. Lee said. It seems like Minhee was her true inner self again. The powerful Minhee that hides on a shell for a long time now. Sehun, Luhan and Kai formed a triangle with her standing at the middle.

“Exonerate.”

She said and instantly opened her eyes. With that, the aura in the room changed. It was shocking and fascinating at the same time. Then, a symbol started appearing in each of the three.  Luhan’s was on his nape. Sehun’s was on his hand, the same place as Minhee’s. And Kai’s was on his chest.

“Luhan – Mind Control.”

“Sehun – Curse of the Ice Queen.”

“Kai – power of a beast.”

Minhee enumerated each of their powers. Mr. Lee was above satisfied. He walked to them and clapped. Everyone snapped back into reality. All four of them were catching their breaths. It was an energy draining activity. Minhee fainted. Luckily, Kai was able to catch her. Sehun panicked. He was about to carry her when Kai stopped him. “I’ll do it.” He said. He stood up and bought her to her room. “is it okay if she wouldn’t attend class today?” Sehun asked the teacher. “It’s okay. I’ll just discuss small things anyways.” He said and followed them at the door. “take care of her, boys.” He said and closed the door.

Kai gently laid her at her bed. Luhan went to the bathroom to get the medicine kit. Meanwhile, Sehun sat at the chair beside her bed and stroked her hair. He held her hand and kissed it. “Please get well soon Minhee-ah.” He said. Soon after, he drifted off to sleep. Luhan got out of the bathroom and saw Minhee peacefully sleeping. *I guess I won’t be needing these.* he thought, referring to the kit. He noticed Sehun sleeping on a chair beside her with his head rested on Minhee’s bed. He was holding her hand. Luhan walked towards her and stroked her hair.

Luhan decided to join Kai who’s already watching TV. “Aren’t you worried about her?” he asked. “Why would I be?” he coldly replied. Luhan smirked and patted Kai’s back. “Oh don’t lie to me buddy.” Kai looked at Luhan with shock. But the latter was already asleep. *how did he know? Nah, I don’t think so. Maybe he’s just playing with me.* he thought.

“Don’t leave.”
