The time is 7:00pm. Be "Vendetta" Ingrid VanIgaar.
The parting ceremony at St.Vincent's was more painful every time it flashed through little Vendetta's head. The image of Horace Marconovich, her high school sweetheart, breaking down into to tears the moment she set foot off campus would haunt her through the new year in Nevada. Just thinking of him grieving her made her throat squeeze tight and her eyes water, but she would always bite her lip and keep quiet about the whole ordeal, not wanting to provoke any questions as to why a hysterical eleventh grader would be crying in public. To make matters worse, it was rumored that Horace had been writing wedding vows to her. She never would find out if this was true and most likely never would. He had joined the St.Vincent's Navy corps. Vendetta often found herself pining for him in the arms of her brother in law, Atticus, Horace's older brother, and her sister's husband. She swore she had some sort of subconscious crush on him. She didn't want to believe that though.

As Athena Auclair walked down the halls of the mall with her older cousin Levy Mcgarden, she silently reflected on her life. Athena was from New Brunswick, Canada and went to Francis Academy. That is, until she could barley afford to keep a roof over her head and had to move in with her older cousin. Her parents were always on business trips so they never really had time for her. Levy was always like a mother or sister to her growing up and practically raised her. Levy moved to Nevada for her teaching career when Athena was 15. She lived alone ever since. She dedicated majority of her time to art and music. Starting tomorrow she would be attending Guild Mark Academy which is where Levy worked full time as a librarian.
A high pitched squeak snapped Athena out of her thoughts. "Let's go in Victoria's Secret 'Thena!" Levy exclaimed. "Okay, okay Lev." Athena chuckled. We walked in and Levy suddenly disappeared farther into the store. Athena sighed as she blew her mint green bangs out of her face. She wasn't ready for the big day tomorrow. She sat down on the bench outside the store and started to stare and what seemed like nothing, completely oblivious to the small girl that sat on the other side.

The limberness in the young girl's legs seemed to falter as she trudged her way around the town center's only mall, a faint look of sickness veiling her features. Vendetta couldn't eat her dinner that night. She simply had too much on her mind, so her sister had shooed her off to the mall to pick up a new outfit. Hopefully differing from the simple grey and beige plaid skirts from the catholic school she was coming from. Atticus had said that Nevada was much flashier and more busy than the sleepy town that St.Vincent resided it, dilapidated and rotting to the earth's will. Though, she didn't see why she couldn't wear her uniform. When she asked her sister, she told her that uniforms were not something that was common here, and it would look weird if she wore the same clothes everyday. Vendetta, at that moment decided that Nevada was too much for her. She concluded to stick with her beiges and greys.
The polished Mary-Janes on Vendetta's feet scuffed along the mall's floor, a faint shuffling sound with each bearing step. So many other girls pranced around with arms full of perfumes and clothes, some with bags filled with foreign make up and lotions. A wave of envy washed over the girl. They were all so pretty and refreshed looking in their lush pastels and vibrant colors. Vendetta must have stuck out like a sore thumb compared to them. Dark circles hung from beneath her eyes, and her hair all dry and scratchy from never moisterizing. The garment she was wearing one of her sister's hand me down sweaters, the once vivacious scarlet on it had faded into a brownish maroon, with bits of lint and strings of wool dangling off of it. Her sister was right. She looked sloppy and unkept. She really did need a new outfit.
Rows upon rows of stores littered the mall's parlor, each and every one with a bright 'Back to school sale' sticker slapped on the windows and display cases. She looked around lethargically, her head pounding from all the commotion around her. She had to sit down, or she felt as if she were going to faint. Stumbling as coordinated as she could, she flopped onto one of the circle couches down the center catwalk and put her face in her hands, blissfully ignorant of the green haired girl on the other side.

Athena's P.O.V
I came out of my trance when I saw Levy jogging towards me holding at least six bags. "I think you went a little overboard Levy." I said as she approached me. "You can never go overboard at Victoria's Secret!" She exclaimed and looked at me as if I was crazy. "Whatever you say, Lev." I chuckled. I grabbed a few bags to help her out and we started walking. When I got up I noticed a girl on the other side of the bench. When did she get there? She looked up and we locked eyes for about two seconds but then Levy pulled me along with her. 'She was interesting.' I thought to myself.

Vendetta's head popped up from her hands when she felt a slight shift in the fabric beneath her, undoubtedly someone getting up from the other side of the couch. Her head was still pounding, but through the fogginess of pain, she managed to register the presence of a girl with mint green hair and royal blue eyes. The moment their gaze locked, Vendetta's hazy grayish eyes seemed to shrink as her stomach plummeted. Almost instinctively, she averted her eyes away from the colorful girl, staring down at her lap. She knew she wouldn't be as pretty or as talented as the people at such a free range school. Maybe she should just quit school and go live in a cave for twelve years. The insight would do her some good. After all, she wasn't much to look at. Perhaps she should get some new leggings and call it a day. As for tomorrow, she didn't want to stand out. She decided she would make like Tetris and fit in and disappear. Life was easier this way, and if she could help it, she wasn't about to start off with a bang.
