Mia's hands had been trembling uncontrollably when she picked up her cell phone in the hospital, the fluorescent lights illuminating her face and forcing her to see the tear stains and puffy eyes that had appeared not too long ago. The hallway she stood in wasn't as rammed as she suspected it would be, instead it was quiet. Only a doctor, nurse or visitor wandering past every few minutes; they all gave her the same pitying smile - assuming the worst. Though, in a way, they were right in their assumptions. The young Toretto had received news that night that she would sell her soul to have not gotten. Her heart pained her and her throat ached from all of her sobbing. It felt like her hands would never stop shaking and her tears would never stop flowing. Now she had the dreaded, heartbreaking job of breaking the news to her older brother - she knew he'd be furious, upset, possibly reckless. But that didn't mean he didn't have a right to know

Two of the most important people to them had been hurt tonight.

And only one of them is alive.

"Dom?" Her voice cracks, she scrunched her eyes shut as she leans on the wall for support. The words were fighting their way out even if she didn't want them to.

"Mia, I told you not to call me here." The baritone voice sounds immediately, not catching the break in his little sister's voice and instead scolding her. It pains Mia to get her next words out, knowing how much it'll hurt him.

"Dom it's Letty and Harley. Someone tried to murder them..." She trails off for a minute, turning to look into the room she was previously in. Her frown deepens at the sight of the person laying in bed looking completely and utterly vulnerable - the polar opposite of what they actually are.
"Letty's dead, Dom." Mia releases a sob.

"What about Harley, Mia?" Her brother speaks once more after a long pause, she can hear that he's already choked up from the news.
"Mia, answer me." He demands when there's no response.

"I'm with her in hospital. The doctors say she'll be okay but it was a close call. Dom, she had to be resuscitated on the way over here." Mia reveals, running a hand through her already tangled hair. God knows how many times she had ran her hand through it anxiously on the way over here and while talking to the doctor.

And then he hangs up and she knows the trouble has only just begun.
