"Get to the tree!" Shouts my dad. "They're coming!" I sit clueless under a giant Variegata leaf. My mom rushes to get me and my sister Emma. She collects us in her arms and throws us on her back. I grip onto her shoulder while my sister grips onto the other.
I look back while mother is climbing up the tree while my father helps her up. She cant climb very well right now because she is getting ready to give birth to a new family member. I notice my papa struggling to get out of some vines that he got tangled in. I have to look back because some leaves started to block my point of view. It turns out that my mom had burrowed Emma and I into some leaves at the top of the tree on a branch so that "they" would not see us. I hear loud pounding noises. I had thought It was just my heart pounding louder than my dad pounding open some fruit, but then right after the noise I noticed my sister fall asleep, but I thought it was a good idea to ignore whatever was going on right outside the burrow and just take a nap. Emma taped my shoulder whispering my name. "Connor? Connor! Wake up! What is going on?"
I open and rub my eyes, not yet remembering what was going on. I suddenly remember because of the leaf burrow around me. I asked Emma how long we were hidden for. She said, "I have no idea,  I heard some loud noises, so I woke you up!"
I told her it was probably around noon and we should go look for mom, dad, and papa. She said okay and we started ripping and tearing away the leaves. As we stood up on the branch mother hid us on, we could see one of us! We ran over, and noticed that it was papa! He had been stabbed in the chest, and had been dying. We asked him if he was okay and he said, "No te preocupes por mí. Ellos los tomaron. ¡tienes que ir! Corre tan lejos como puedas Ellos estarán regresando." ( That was Spanish for "Don't worry about me. they took them. you must go! run as far as you can! they will be coming back.") I ran back to my sister and told her We must go. She asked who it was and I told her not to worry. She tried hesitating, but then I held her hand and jumped down the tree. We rand to the left of the tree and warned the apes in the trees. The started screeching at us, so we just left. As we were leaving, a mother ape threw her baby silverback down. Emma caught her. The mother screeched "I don't want her! She it too mischievous !" Emma clutched the baby close to her just like she did to mom. We named her Evelyn, and kept going. Three hours later, they found a pineapple tree. Emma laid Evelyn on the ground and smashed some pineapple for Evelyn. She pushed some towards Evelyn , and she started eating some too. Evelyn rolled on her belly and started eating. I got a pineapple, peeled the skin off and ate the whole thing. Now they were ready for the next part of their adventure in the Amazon.
