*Mike's POV*
-
"I know. I guess..you don't have to put your trust in me."

Max and I were sitting on a bench, quietly thinking and skimming through the looks of soft clouds on a sunny day.

"What is your worth?"

"What do you mean?"

Max seemed a little quiet and unsure today.

"Today..you seem somewhat vulnerable."

"Well, to tell the truth. I am. I'm quiet as I can be. I don't want to interfere."

Something must be wrong.

"Max?"

"Yeah, Mike?" She sighed.

I know, her thoughts read to me.

Know what?

What will happen.

I don't get it, Max. What are you talking about?

She picked up a rock next to her shoe and threw it across the sidewalk.

She sighed again.

"You can tell me."

"You don't need me," She finally answered.

"This is making no sense."

"You don't care.." she dragged her sentence.

Is she..possessed or something?

"This whole week. You've been-like-tired and I think you're..being taken over by something else because you aren't being yourself."

"But I am."

"Then why are you quiet?"

"Because." She muttered.

I sat up.

"I can't-" she pulled me back in the bench.

"No." She said to me.

"What are you-?"

"Stop." Her voice grew raspier.

"What's happening? What's going on?"

Oh no-this is it.

This will never be the end of me. Ccccccccooooowwwwwwaaaaaarrrrrdd...

Her voice in my mind..it sounded raspy and deeper.

"Are you..ok?"

"Neverrr.." she growled.

I jumped up from the bench and ran for home.

"I KNEW IT!" I yelled as I saw Lucas and Dustin through the bushes, "I KNEW SHE WAS DANGEROUS!"

"SHE'S CLOSE, MAN!" Lucas and Dustin shrieked.

My heart galloped and my breaths were uneven.

Don't stop running.

Once I got to them in the bushes, they jumped out and ran right in front of me as I followed them back to my house.

I could feel it, all our breaths raspy from breathing so hard, our hearts racing.

Don't turn your back.

I didn't listen to myself.

"Damn!" Lucas yelled.

I could hear Dustin cursing under his breath.

The Demogorgon raced toward us, leaping every step it took to yank us off balance and take us back to the Upside Down.

"This is it-this is-"

I got interrupted as I saw El running towards us.

"STOP!"

We lost sight of the monster, though we hid in the bushes for safety.

"How far is the Demogorgon?"

"You mean Max?" Lucas panted as he dropped his backpack onto the damp ground.

"Quiet, man. If she hears us-we're in deep shiz."

Silence.

All that was needed until we heard its breath from a couple feet away.

IT'SO VER M IKE..

I felt a feeling of suffocation.

Is this..the end?

^TAKES FOREVER TO CREATE A GOOD IDEA IN YOUR HEAD FOR EACH FRIGGIN' CHAPTER! *sigh*
Well..this was a messy cliffhanger (I guess..?)
Will it or will it not be the end of Mike's life in the next chapter. You'll find out..soon. ~ Uhly :)
