Part 18 ~ Least Expected

*Max's POV*

I could feel it.

I could feel it was coming, but I didn't want to tell anyone, not even Mike.

They would come back.

It would come back.

I sat in Castle Byers with Will.

We stared off and it just so happened that my eyes started to flicker, and I could sense it.

So did his.

I noticed him glaring at me oddly.

I like it here, so he thought.

I glanced off into the distance and waved my hair back.

Yeah, it's quiet, I answered his thought.

He looked at me again.

"I would talk, but you can read my mind..I don't know."

"You mean it's weird that I can read your every thought, right?"

Every thought?

Sure.

He shook his head to clear his mind.

They always try to hide away.

Who?

"Everyone has that fear of psychics. You're one of them. I don't hate you for it, in fact it's totally understandable. Before I knew I had these powers, I was scared people could read my mind, too. I was one of them."

He nodded slowly.

"I get flashbacks," he blurted.

"I notice."

Can't you just read my mind? He asked; questionable.

Doesn't matter to me much.

Spring leaves twiddled around.

Mm..spring. I thought to myself.

"You didn't get what I asked?"

"I did-in fact I answered your question. It doesn't matter to me but sometimes I get off track."

I'm scared.

I am, too. For all of us, in fact.

Hmm?

I'm letting you all into my skin. I'm letting you see who I am but I don't want to be seen by too many. I don't want my name on things.

I thought you could only read my mind?

Oh-wow. Confused, huh? Our minds can kinda speak to each other, but for me it's a deeper matter. I'm just too lazy to speak for right now, hehe.

"I see," he mumbled.

"Really?" I asked, talking tiredly.

"I guess I understand. I mean-what you are explaining to me. It will take time for the both of us to get to know each other and we are all different in our own way."

"Don't let anyone tell you differently," I mentioned to him strongly.

He shrugged, "I guess."

"We are all..scared. It's not only you who is afraid of what people think of you. Everyone has that fear and you should know that."

"Things come at the least expected times. It's hard to say what will come next for Mike and El."

^This chapter seemed deeper in depth than other chapters because it focused more on thought and self-consciousness. I hope this was a good chapter and thanks for reading my story! ~ Uhly :)
