"What are you doing, Wesley?" You sat down next to him.

"Schoolwork. Not really the most exciting, but it is really important if I'm going to do well."

"Let me see."

"Sure, Y/N."

You examined Wesley's work. It looked amazing, almost at your level. You noticed an incorrect answer. "Hold on, Wesley. Look, shouldn't that be 7 squared, not 8 squared?" Wesley smiled, and took his work back. "Yes, it should be! Thanks, Y/N!"

"It was nothing. Everyone makes mistakes, Wesley."

"If Mom lets me, do you want to see some work I did on the Enterprise's engines last week?"

"Yes! I'd love that!"

"I'll be back in a second!" Wesley went through the door.

You smiled to yourself. You had made your first friend.

"We can go! Follow me!" Wesley grinned. He let you through the door first, like a true gentleman. He guided you through the corridors until you reached his quarters. Wesley led you through the door and gestured for you to sit down, which you did. "Here we go." He handed you an extensive piece of work. You scanned through it.

You stood up and looked Wesley in the eye. "Y/N?" Wesley said, puzzled.

"Wesley, that is the best thing I've ever seen! If we had know each other longer, I would've hugged you. But you know what, I'm going to anyway."

You hugged Wesley, and he hugged back. "Oh, Wesley, can I see you tomorrow?"

"Of course, Y/N. I'll meet you here at the same time tomorrow! Bye, Y/N."

"Bye, Wesley."

You headed towards your family quarters. Your father was already there. "How was your first day on board, Y/N?"

"It was brilliant, Dad. I think I've made my first friend."

"Wesley?"

You blushed furiously. Riker laughed. "I'll take that as a yes."

"I've never known anyone with similar interests to me, Dad. He just, just gets it."

"Calm down, Y/N. Have some rest. It sounds like a lot has happened today."

"It really has, Dad. Night."
