Jonathan's POV

"It's too early Fiona." I stretched out my legs in these tight plaid pants.

"You thought I was playing when I said that? Oh no I meant it Jon." She patted my back with an artificial smile.

"I could be sleep." I said as we stepped onto the golf course.

"Quit complaining. You get up earlier than this to go to work. This ain't nothing."

"Golfing really?" I sighed.

I only went golfing when I had an important business meeting with high class men. They would usually dine at the golf course or talk about business with partners.

I'm a black man. In other words, golf is not my interest.

"Yes Jon golfing. I researched it and it's a good stress reliever and it strengthens your upper muscles." She put on her sunglasses.

"I keep telling you I'm going to be fine. Stop worrying about me. You'll over work yourself trying to worry about me. I'm ok and I've always been Fi."

"I know Jon but look at yourself. You're losing weight and you just don't look like yourself. Don't you see? Just do it for me." She tugged my shoulders with a small smile.

I sighed. "I have a feeling you're only doing this so Vernell can go out with that young fellow."

"Partially but she said he's not picking her up till 4. We'll be home before that. I just want you to do some type of exercise and quit looking like a branch." She squeezed my lanky arms.

I'll admit, I've never been a big man even growing up my mom had to force me to eat something off my dinner plate.

"I'a tell you what. You'll stare at that plate till the crack of dawn but you ain't leaving this table till  you eat something off that plate. Mark my words Jon. I mean it so get to scooping the corn up cause they ain't gon disappear. I dare you to get up without finishing that plate. I ain't playing with you boy."

Those would be her exact words each night because I refused to eat.

Oh I miss her.

I shoved Fiona.

"You can count on me to always tell you the truth. You always looked like a stick."

"Pest." I swatted and she ran to the golf club rental and I shook my head.

I knew I didn't have that long to live but I would never tell her that. When my time is up, my time is up.

Just live in the moment and don't spear it.

Vernell's POV

"She tried it Nell. She was sweet talking to Gavin and laughing at every word he said."

He said the word "it" and she would start laughing like that was the funniest thing she's ever heard." Mya rolled her eyes as she flipped through the feed on Instagram.

"Like damn I thought that Gavin looked like Kevin Hart for a minute." She said bitterly.

"Somebody sounds jealous. Jealousy is not a good look on you." I perched my lips to the side.

"Tsk. Me I'm not jealous. I'm just worried for her thirst factors. Should I get her the Nestle, the Ice Mountain, or Fuji water?" Mya asked sarcastically.

"Oh my Amaya." I laughed. "Just admit it, you like Gavin."

"I'm a free woman and he's a free man. He can talk to anyone he wants. It's just some of the girls that surround him look they were not introduced to water when they were young." Mya turned up her nose and I snickered.
