Prologue 1: Roses and Souls

Omnipresent Pov.

October 31st, 20XX, 3:20 PM.

It was an ordinary day at Ouran Academy, and as it was after classes, a group of girls moved towards the school's main attraction for female students with plenty of time on their hands…... The Ouran Highschool Host-Club. There was a sign on the front door, that signaled that day's theme:

TODAY'S THEME: HALLOWEEN!

Inside of the club are eight students, these are our lovely hosts, the entertainers, and their sole manager. The hosts are tied to a specific type: Tamaki, the Princely type, Hikaru and Kaoru, the Little-Devil types, Honey, the Boy-Lolita type, Mori, the Strong and Silent type, Kyoya, the Intelligent and Cool type, and Haruhi, the Natural type. Renge, their manager, was also the lovestruck Tsundere of the group, and entertained the occasional boy that wandered into the host club. As that particular day's theme (Tying into the actual Holiday) was Halloween, the Hosts were dressed up in different costumes: Tamaki was in a vampire costume, Hikaru and Kaoru were wearing demon costumes, Haruhi and Kyoya were wearing witch costumes, Honey was wearing a mouse costume, Mori was wearing a werewolf costume, and Renge was wearing a fairy-witch costume. All of the girls that came in were wearing costumes of their own, such as witches, fairies, elves, and angels, all vying for their favorite host's attention...

Haruhi Pov

I had pretended to cast spells and make potions to enchant the girls that were flocking around me ( In reality, those potions were just different types of fruit juice), Kyoya-Senpai seemed to be able to enchant some of the girls to buy the readily-available Magazines, Manga, and CD's he sold at the club, and it seemed to work as I had watched 3 girls buy a ridiculous amount of fanart and signed items... even he seemed surprised by this at the time as well. Meanwhile, Tamaki-Senpai had dressed up as a vampire, and handed out crystal-clear glasses of bloody red liquid, which in reality, was actually just red wine (Not that we would have ever used the real stuff.. I hope...), to those that came over to him, and he pretended to drink their blood. Hikaru and Kaoru were pretending to kidnap some of their customers. Honey-Senpai was eating cheesecake with some of his customers, and Mori-Senpai was playing guardian with a few of Honey-Senpai's customers, I think I noticed Umehito playing as the attacker (He happened to be dressed in a demon costume! Even when without his hood, Nekozawa really loved his occult stuff.), and Mori-Senpai as the defender. Renge had somehow rigged a harness to a pulley system, and was 'flying' around the host club, occasionally trying to kidnap Kyoya, which annoyed him to no end. Eventually, all of the customers started to leave, and we all left to go get changed into our normal uniforms per order of tamaki I never really understood why at the time... I don't think that even in my wildest dreams that something like this would ever happen!

I watched the complete and utter chaos that the club became when preparing for a special guest, and we had to go fast, or we would be late, as the guests arrived in less than an hour, so everyone was rushing around, and decorating the host club with different colors of roses, each color representing a different member of the club, as well as decorating the room with small sculptures of the school's "Mascot" Lord Death (Shinigami-Sama, a supposed "Death God"). Everyone was also nervous, as that school that the guest students had come from had a notorious reputation as a very deadly School, with students, and occasionally a teacher, dying or seriously injured Daily, so we were expecting rough-and-tumble students. Since there were both male and female guests, I also had to help Renge entertain some of the other students. There were 4 girls, and 4 boys, totaling up to eight.
