Chapter 15 --- Trouble again

Kyle's P.O.V.

I have a weird feeling that Kate is in trouble. Again. It was the same weird feeling as when I sensed Paige leaving Kate stranded in the middle of the sea. And now I'm sure Paige is trying to do something bad to Kate again.

I paced around. I wanted to do something to save Kate now, but having no idea where to start, I just closed my locker and went to class.

When I passed through one of the janitor's closet, I felt a strange urge to run in and yell Kate. However, with my "favourite" teacher staring at me, I can't do anything stupid and get myself in trouble.

'You could immediately drop out of this school and apply for being a janitor.' Mr.Black said. Perhaps I was looking at the janitor's closet for a really long time.

Muttering sorry, I lowered my head and ran to class. The feeling would be gone anyway.

Class was long over but the weird feeling was still here. I was at home already, lying on the sofa with the telly on.

However, the weird feeling keeps getting stronger and stronger. Throwing the remote control on the floor, I ran out of the door and hailed a cab.

Checking if Paige was the driver again, I told the driver where to and phoned Paige.

'What have you done to Kate now? Talk!'

'I told you the weird feeling would work. It would work even better with Rachel, try it if you want. We can always help you.'

'I am not telling you where Rachel is! If you're my sister, stop torturing Kate! The one you want is me.'

'I'm doing both of us a favor! We don't have to be poor anymore after we've claimed what's ours.'

'But these girls have no parents! They should have the right to live off the fortune.'

'You were better before! You used to plot with me and do your freaking best in getting what's yours. But after meeting that horrible witch, you've changed!'

My blood started to boil as Paige talked bad about Rachel,' She's not a witch! Back to my point, where is Kate?!'

Paige returned to her original "evil" voice,'Kate? Who's Kate?' Then, the phone made a really long beep sound.

I knew calling again was useless. And if I did, my phone would just burst into flames. The taxi halted abruptly as it stopped at the school gate. I threw the driver a few notes and ran into the school building.

Finding the right janitor's closet, I barged in the room. It was then I found out that Kate was left unconscious on the floor and a timer bomb was about to explode in less than a minute.

Carrying Kate out with one arm, I ran through the hallways and out of the building. It was just about then, the bomb exploded behind. It was lucky we got out of the building, but the bomb still affected us.

We flew up and landed roughly on the ground a few feet ahead. It was getting dizzier and dizzier. I tried to reach for Kate who was bleeding heavily. I wanted to take Kate and stand up, but I had no more energy to do so. I gripped her tight not to let her go. Slowly I drifted off, my hand still holding hers.

I woke up in the hospital with Kate in the next bed talking on the phone.

'Thank you so much Danny! I couldn't thank you enough for saving me from that horrible bomb Kyle set up!' Glancing at me with distaste, she continued talking to Danny,'And can you believe it? He made me think that he saved me from the explosion! Lucky you and Paige told me the truth. I didn't know what I did to him, but he wanted to kill me!' Kate used her most bitch like voice to make me hear.

I was really mad. I saved her from the stupid bomb PAIGE set up. Not Danny, me! Out of fury, I threw a pillow at her that knocked the phone right out of her hand.

'How dare you!' Kate yelled at me.

'I saved you! Danny didn't, I did! Paige set up the bomb!' I didn't realize I had said something I shouldn't have said.

'Stop lying!' Kate was about to cry and I didn't want her to know too much. Maybe letting Kate think I tried to kill her would be the best for her.

'Why do you want to kill me? What have I ever done to you?! What's your problem?!' Tears sprung to her eyes, 'I think you know I like you a little. So? It doesn't mean you have to MURDER me! I have amnesia and I have absolutely no idea what used to go on in my life. I just knew that when I woke up at the hospital, I was the most popular girl at school and that my life was already perfectly in place. But you had to show up.'

I stared at her. I had no choice but to pretend I had nothing to do with her past.

Looking at my cold response, she continued, 'When I saw you on the football field, I liked you for some reason and I thought you must be a thin link to my past. I started to like you then. I thought you were a good person. Apparently, I can't trust anyone except for Danny and Paige.' Finishing her last sentence, she slumped on her bed and continued with her crying.

I wanted to comfort her and tell her everything right away, but I can't. I have to keep reminding myself that it is for her own sake not to know.

Kate's P.O.V.

I can't believe he's still staring at me coldly. I should be the one giving him the silent treatment. Life's not fair. I got off the bed and headed towards the toilet. On the way, I saw Danny.

'Hi Danny!' I greeted him with a heartwarming smile. I just hope Kyle sees us.

'Hey Kate!'

Suddenly, Danny pushed me to a corner and started kissing me.
