Chapter 22: Wander Lust
I became as one poisoned dying slowly. Except for Gunny Corail and Badwarrior, no one else remained, all transferred to their perspective MOS stations, and not a true supply man among them. I felt strangely alone. I had grown accustomed to those familiar faces, even if they were masks of discontent and seething rebellion. The replacements, all fresh out of boot camp, were green, young, and anxious to please. In less than twenty-six months, I had become an old soldier, a Marine Corps Sergeant at the beginning of a promising career. A Corporal was assigned to me, a man three years my senior resigned to the chain of command and who followed orders unwaveringly.
