Alone Heath wired the camera through the cables of his television only to find a video for him. It felt as though Venice was sitting in front of him inside their room.
“Heath! Naririnig mo na ba ako? Nakikita mo ba ako? Yohoo!”
Heath looked up at the screen only to find Venice smiling at him when he played the video again.
“Kung naririnig at nakikita mo ako ibig sabihin noon… e… deadbol na ako.” Napakamot ito sa ulo nitong hubad. “Sabi ko kay mama ibigay niya itong video na ito sayo kapag na rest in peace na ako. Actually 30 days after ko ma-rest in peace. Hehe!”
Venice fumbled her intravenous line while thinking what to say.
“Hmm… Anong itsura ko nung namatay ako?”
“Ma! Sandali, pangit! I-erase mo yung part nay un!”
Tumikhim si Venice bago nagsimula ulit.
“Ah! AH! Dun dun dun dan! Love Video ni Venice para kay Heath take two!” she clapped her hands giddily.
“Heath!”
“Kamusta ka na? Haha! Alam ko baka naka-kunot na ang noo mo habang pinapanuod mo ito. Wala kang pasensya sa mga ka-cornihan e. I made a video for Hezekiah also. By the time you’ll watch this I’ll be long gone kaya malas mo… Sabi ko kasi kay mama ibigay niya ito 30 days after my death. Baka kasi kapag binigay niya agad e ipahukay mo ako para lang masakal mo ako. Alam mo ba yung sabi nila na bumabalik ang patay pagkatapos ng tatlumpong araw? NAG-PAGPAG ka na ba Heath?” tumatawang tanong ni Venice.
“Paano na yan? Patay na ako.”
Then there was a long pause.
This was the woman he walked out on, Heath thought. Kung alam lang n Venice na hindi pa ito patay. Na nakakabit pa rin ito sa makina… Venice would be the one strangling him.
“So how was it Heath?”
“Anong naramdaman mo noong pinakawalan mo ako?”
Venice continued to pause as if she was waiting for him to answer…
She was smiling while asking something he wasn’t able to do. She paused for a second and lifted her eyes up. She tried hard to suppress her tears but they came in anyway. Bravely she looked at the camera again, smiling and crying at the same time.
