“Welcome back, Dr. Marisa!”

“How are you feeling today?”

“Are your arms and legs all healed?” Marisa couldn’t help but laugh.

“Yes, yes, I’m fine. As good as new. Sorry to cause all of you so much worry. But now I’m back and ready to do what I do best.” Everyone let out a loud cheer. Marisa just smiled as she put on her new doctor’s coat. With a big smile on her face, she was ready to get back to work at helping people. Walking into the examination room, Chelsea was already there with her first patient for the day.

Marisa’s first day back went by really quickly. Before she knew it, she was done with her last patient. Before heading home, she decided to pay Mrs. Sampson a visit.

“Mrs. Sampson?”

“Marisa, I heard you were back today. How are you feeling?”

“Much better. It’s as though that whole fire was nothing but a bad dream.”

“That’s wonderful. Plus, I hear it was your dear friend Thomas that saved you.” Marisa blushed.

“Yes, it was. I was just about to pass out when he appeared. But...while he was saving me, he was badly injured himself. His arms were all cut up and badly burned. He told me it was nothing to worry about and that he would be fine. Still I---”

“Then you have nothing to worry about.”

“Huh?”

“Believe it or not, men can be very stubborn. They won’t let some injury weigh them down. Instead, they’ll just get right back up like it never happened. That’s what my husband did even when he broke his arm by falling off a ladder.” Marisa’s face brightened.

“Really?! With an injury as serious as that?!” Mrs. Sampson grinned and nodded.

“Yes. My husband was a very stubborn man who wouldn’t allow me to worry about him. Instead, he would just keep going with everyday life as though he was in perfect health. If my husband was able to blow off a broken arm, I’m sure your friend will be able to handle a few cuts and burns to the arms.” Marisa smiled. She realized she was right. Thomas said so himself. She had nothing to worry about. If she could recover from such serious injuries, he could too. She held up her wrist which was wearing the bracelet he had given her. She couldn’t help but feel a warm sensation while she looked at it. She really was happy to have someone like him in her life.

That night, she sat down and had a nice dinner with her family. It was a bit of a surprise cause her grandmother was paying a visit.

“Sis, how are your arms doing? Are you all better now?” Marisa grinned.

“Yes, for the 100th time. I feel perfectly fine. I don’t even have any scars. So stop worrying about me cause I’m completely cured.”

“We’re very glad to hear that, dear. I’m especially anxious to meet this man I’ve heard so much about. The one who saved your life and whom you’ve grown so fond of.” Marisa’s face turned bright red.

“Grandma! It’s not like that at all! Thomas is just a very special friend of mine just like the others!” Her grandmother giggled.

“Of course, dear. Of course.” Marisa looked over at Conner to see him snickering.

“Don’t you dare start with me, Conner! If you so much as think it I’ll---” Just then, Conner whispered in a really low voice.

“Boyfriend.” With that, Marisa launched for him. Conner jumped out of his chair just in time as Marisa fell to the floor.
