"It's a bird!"
"No, it's a plane!"
"No, it's a person flying in the sky. How could you possibly mistake a person for a bird or a plane?"
The gathered crowd turned to look at Tyler, raising their eyebrows while he appeared to be silently fuming. "Stupid people, acting like they're in a dang comic book," he murmured angrily, turning his eyes up to the sky in time to see a man gliding smoothly through the clouds like a bird, the wind ruffling his golden, blond hair.
He wore a blue spandex suit that hugged his form rather nicely, shiny, red boots on his feet. He looked just about as ridiculous as the super heroes in a child's comic book, parading around in way too-tight clothing and bright colors that were as flashy as flashy could get.
Tyler thought it was ludicrous.
He rolled his eyes as the crowd gave a loud roar, cheering on the hero as he swiftly swooped through air with the agility and grace of an acrobat, landing on the street a few yards away.
He turned towards the crowd and grinned, showcasing pearly white teeth that sparkled in the sunlight above. His eyes were enclosed by a red mask that matched his boots, but the rest of his face was clearly visible, making it a mystery to Tyler why he bothered to wear a mask at all if 90% of his face was still showing.
A blue and red patterned cape hung on his shoulders, billowing down to his feet. On his chest, the letter T was plastered in a bold, shimmering red, dictating that he was Talon, the treasured and loved hero of San Francisco.
He opened his mouth, as if to say something, when a giant boulder suddenly went flying through the air, crashing into his body like an angry bull. It sent him flying a few feet backwards, but he was undeterred as he picked the boulder up and sent it flying in the direction it came from.
Thankfully, it didn't hit a building, but swerved to the right and landed on the street with a loud thud, the ground beneath it cracking slightly from the force.
A loud, disturbing laugh echoed through the silent area before a man appeared out of thin air, slowly materializing like a hologram or something. He wore tight, black leather clothing, spike bracelets on each of his wrists that looked as if they were made out of metal and black gloves on each of his hands. Strapped to his waist with a belt was a wicked sharp sword that was as dark as his clothing, if not darker.
Tyler briefly wondered how the man could survive in all that black clothing without melting in the heat of the sun. His hair was smoothed back with gel, his eyes a vivid green that made Tyler feel sick in the stomach.
The newcomer—who appeared to be the villain—cackled as he examined his opponent, raising a hand slowly. The boulder a few feet away followed the movement of his hand, slowly hovering above the ground as it shuddered. Talon glared fiercely, taking a defensive pose.
"Back down. Go back to your little hideout and I may forget about this altercation if you behave," Talon said. His voice was powerful and strong, reverberating through the tense atmosphere. The Villain—who Tyler mentally nicknamed Spike—let out an angry grunt, balling his gloved hand into a fist.
The boulder shuddered more vigorously before it crumbled and suddenly broke into several smaller rocks, each shuddering before the rocks suddenly barreled towards Talon. His eyes widened and he jumped to the side, instinctively hovering above the ground as he skillfully dodged the rocks that were trying to pelt him.
The crowd that was previously silent let out a cheer, with the exception of Tyler, who noticed a slight change in the hero's movements. Talon moved quickly but more sluggish, his facial features showing discomfort.
