"Where the hell are you?" The voice that came from the receiver was not female. I pull the cell back and see Jerk lit up on the screen.
"At home, I have some English work I have to get started on. I'm sorry, didn't know that it was a priority for you to know where I am all the time." I groan and open my heavy backpack. The papers in my bag were definitely crinkled up and I pull them out and lay them down on my carpet. "What do you want?"
"We had an agreement, Manny." His voice sounds slightly angry and annoyed. "I'm not losing, so either you get your flat ass over here or I'm coming over there and making your flat ass get over here."
I audibly groan and roll my eyes. I did not have a flat ass. I peer into my body length mirror on my door and turn so that I can see the very noticeable bump of a booty. Jerk.
"Jake..." I begin to tell him that I have homework that needs to get done, but he interrupts.
"I'll be there in ten minutes." He says before hanging up. I stare at the phone, angry that he didn't have any respect what-so-ever. What the hell? I flop back onto my bed, knowing full well that in roughly ten minutes he'll be at my doorstep with a big scowl painted across his ugly mug.
I completely forgot about going over to his place after school, I was too occupied with tired thoughts. I close my eyes, not wanting to do anything. Ana's predicament is still bothering me and I don't know how to deal with it yet. I've been thinking of ways to help, but I haven't come up with any good ones yet.
I roll over onto my stomach and stare into my purple pillow case. It smells faintly like a dog and I pull my nose up in disgust. I don't even have a dog. I quickly sit up, eagerly wanting to throw something.
I refrain from tossing anything across the room and sit on my mattress like a pouty six-year-old. Seven long minutes go by of me staring at my wall, waiting for something to happen. I finally take out my phone and text Ana.
Hey, how are things? -Manny
They're okay. I'm planning on telling my parents about the baby during dinner. -Ana
Do you want me to be there? -Manny
No, I'll be fine. -Ana
It kinda hurt, knowing that she didn't want my help anymore. I figured that she'd want to do this on her own, though, I knew I would, so I can't get too mad.
I close my phone, not bothering to check if she messaged me again. I wait for the remaining three minutes until a quiet pounding on the front door comes from downstairs.
I hear it creak open and my mom's quiet, but shrill voice. I didn't know she was home.
"Jake!" Her voice sounds excited to see him. I don't blame her, she hasn't seen him in years. Not since our two families were close friends.
Believe it or not, Jake and I used to take bubble baths together and share Jell-O cups. Once he moved, our families slowly grew apart and luckily for me, they all stopped showing up suddenly. That's when Liam and I became friends at school.
I hear footsteps coming up the stairs and shoot back into my room and throw myself onto my bed, pretending not to be eavesdropping. Jake slowly comes into the room, his hair more of a mess than usual.
"Let's go." He says, smiling. "Your mom hasn't changed. She thinks that we should 'study together' more often."
He throws some air quotations around those words and smirks.
"Why did you lie?" I ask, sitting up and patting my hair down. "She loves you."
He just grins. and stares at me long and hard. I don't like the way his eyes follow my body and hesitate on my cleavage. Pervert.

Romance"Okay, then allow me to offer a pact." He says, immediately making me a mixture of terrified and suspicious. "You say that I'm a jerk; a bully. So, why not change that my way?" "I don't like where this is going-" I begin, but he cuts me off. "Just...
