It was a beautiful Saturday

afternoon, just a few minutes past

1. My Father and I were sitting

anxiously in the doctor's office

waiting for the test results. A nurse

came into the waiting to tell us to

follow her to the doctor's office, to

discuss the test results. We

followed her quietly; I clung to my

Father's hand the whole way

through, unable to think properly.

The test was positive, I could feel it.

I thought about Cameron, and how

he would react. I prayed that he

would stick around and support

me, but my instincts told me I was

living in a fantasy.

The long to Dr Lewis's office was

unbearably long.

After walking down the relatively

short hallway to Dr. Lewis' office,

we all walked in, my and my

Father sat down while the nurse

discreetly left. My Father was silent

as if he had a lot on his mind. Dr.

Lewis was first to break the icy

silence in the room. "Hello Chanel,

Mr Dixon", she was very soft

spoken. I glanced once again, and

regretted it as soon as I did it, his

eyes were watery and I could just

feel the disappointment radiating

off of him. "The results are

positive. I know this isn't ideal for

someone of your age, but worry

not, it's not the end of the world.

You gave a few options you could

explore; you could choose from

either Adoption, Abortio-". I cut her

off right there, first of all I didn't

like how she was listing my

"options" like I was choosing the

meat from a second-rate butchers

shop, thirdly, no matter how

horrible I felt I could never kill my

baby. This whole situation wasn't

the baby's fault, it was mine. "I'm

keeping the baby." I said defiantly.

She paused, before handing me a

packet, and continued talking

about the appointments I would

need and the drugs I would need to

buy. I quietly listened while she

went off the basics, I guess. I
