Summer Break (part 2)

(Jiyong's POV)

I look at the fish, wandering around the small water tanks.

My eyes flicker at every move they make.

Grumble.

I lick my lips.

....Food.

"Yah, Kwon jiyong! Mo Hae!?!" Daesung says as he rushes towards me, pulling my hand out of the fish tank.

I whimper as he apologizes to the owner.

I had it in my hands...

I feel a hand on my shoulder.

"Aigoo, Jiyong ah..you hungry?" yein says as she watches the fish with me.

"...yes." I say miserably.

She smiles as she points her finger towards a shop.

"let's get some ddeokbokkii then." she says.

(ddeokbokkii: korean spicy rice cake)

I look at her in excitement.

We head towards the shop.

"jiyong ah, you sit here. I'll order our food~" she says as she heads towards the register.

I watch her as she orders our food.

Then I hear a small scream.

In a panic I turn to look who it was.

It was a woman.

She was jumping up and down looking at her hand, stretching it far as if she was admiring it.

I take a better look at her hand, and on one finger, was a sparkling object

Woman: Omo, Jagi yahh~~ you didn't have to get me this ring~~~

Cheesy-looking man: Ani yah jagi yah~~I know you've been wanting it for a while~

The woman smiles brightly as she hugs the cheesy-looking man.

Woman: Gomawo. I'm really happy~

I watch them until they leave.

Woman happy, because of sparkling object?

I look towards yein, my mind focused.

Yein..also like sparkly objects?

I imagine yein as she looks at me with bright eyes and a smile like that woman did.

Just thinking about it, put an immediate smile to my face.

"Jiyong ah, the food's here!" yein says as she lowers the tray containing a big bowl of ddeokbokkii.

I lick my lips, my thoughts being interuppted for a moment.

"Jalmukgetsoopnida!" we both say.

(Jalmukgetsoopnida: means Thank you for the meal.)

I take a toothpick and poke one of the red rice cakes.

I take a bite.

It was spicy, yet chewy at the same time bringing warmth into my body.

"Do you like it?" yein says.

I look at yein.

She gives me a warm smile.

Her smile takes my mind off the ddeokbokkii as I just stare at her.

I want to see more of yein's smile.

I stand up.

Yein raises her head as I stand.
