MONDAY MORNING

Sitting opposite Mr Thompson's secretary as she flips thought the pages of my resume, I notice the tiny little emotions she allows slip pass her poker face as she goes through the pages. The way her upper lip twitches when she doesn't really understand some words, or the way she stares intently at a certain line because that line makes it obvious that I'm overqualified for such a job, with one final glance in my resume she raises her head and looks me square in the eye and says

"Your resume is excellent, fits the job, how do you feel about working weekends?" She asks

"My Sundays are preoccupied" I speak up "... but I can find a way to make myself available on Sundays as well"

"Okay with that settled, you are hired for the job. See you first thing tomorrow morning" she says getting up from her sit " and a word of advice, try not to get the boss pissed."

"Yes ma'am" I reply

"Come on let me show you, your work space" walking out the meeting room she begins telling me of what is expected of me "I'll give you his weekly schedule. You don't need to worry about how to put the events in order I'll do that and send them too you. Before a meeting he likes his coffee black and after a successful business deal he drinks a glass of scotch for celebration and goes straight back to work. You are not allowed to step into he's office immediately he arrives unless you are called"

We keep walking till we reach the elevator. Stepping in she pushes the button for the first floor

"No using of the office line for personal calls, can you drive?" She asks

"Yes I can"

"Do you have a driver's license?"

"Yes I do" I wonder why she's asking

"That's good, Mr Thompson may send you on home errands" we stand in silence, with a final ding the elevator doors open
"That's Mr Thompson's office" she points towards a large mahogany double door.
Walking down the corridor to the left, she points to my desk and asks
"Any questions?." She asks but doesn't look in the least bit welcoming to any questions
"No not at all" and with that we head for the elevator, we get in and press the button going down.

.............................

"Sweet dreams! Lira! I'm back" I call out stepping into the house

"Lira! sweet dreams! Girls Mamma's home" still no reply.

I go looking for them in their rooms but no one's home, I check the time it's past 2 they are meant to be back by now.
I quickly dial their lines but it's not reachable. I'm worried, my babies they have to be fine.

I dial my mum's line, she picks after the second ring

"Hello, Dira love how are you?."

"Mamma I'm not fine, my babies they aren't home yet and they aren't picking up either. Have you seen them today mamma?." I ask almost out of breath and on the verge of tears. They have to be fine

"They where here but they left a minute ago, haven't they gotten home yet ?."

"No ma', I'm worried" I say

"They'll be fine just wait a bit longer, then you can get worried"

"Okay ma, how is Dad?"

"He's getting there love, but I'll tell him you called" she says to me, trying so hard to sound convincing.
