I think y'all should know that, as of 2015 according to Pottermore, Newton Scamander was still alive (at the sprightly age of 118) There's no need to talk about him in the past tense! He's out there somewhere teaching Luna's kids the best wat to tickle Nifflers and probably chatting with Hagrid and Charlie Weasley over tea every few weeks.
