I'm Not Over by Carolina Liar
“No, that one makes you look like Big Bird.” Crystal said giving an honest opinion when Bethany came out in yet another unfitting dress.
Today, the girls had decided to go dress shopping for both Bethany’s wedding dress and for Maid of Honor dresses. So far neither one of them had been found. They had started looking at dresses for Kenzie and Crystal, but since they had been unsuccessful so far they focused on Bethany.
She let out a small huff and went back into the dressing room.
Kenzie sat slouched into the couch looking at the glass of champagne that had been in her hand. She never understood why they gave champagne while people shopped for wedding dresses. She wasn’t sure if it was because they thought getting people drunk would bring the honesty out or if they were just trying to be fancy. Possibly both. She gave a small sigh. “I went on a date.”
“What?” Bethany and Crystal screaked at the same time. “With who?”
“Davin.”
The door of the dressing room flung open and Bethany walked out holding the now unzipped dress up while she plopped between the two. “Isn’t that, that songwriter guy who has the pretty eyes and clearly into you?”
Kenzie looked over at Crystal figuring that she had told her a story that somewhat didn’t exist. “Yes, but his eyes aren’t that great.” She half lied earning eye rolls from both of her friends. She shrugged off her friends’ expressions; honestly, she wasn’t too amazed by blue eyes anymore.
“What ever. Details don’t leave anything out. Tell us everything from the time you left the house to the time you came back into the house.” Crystal said wanting specifics.
“Fine, whatever.” She rolled her eyes beginning the story. “Basically, we just met at The Grove and grabbed something to eat. We talked, about mainly nothing and music, ate and that was all.” She nodded explaining the date as simply as she wanted to.
Crystal rubbed her forehead feeling like she had gotten completely nothing. It wasn’t that she hated Lincoln, she loved him like a brother, and she just didn’t think they should have been stuck on each other. It had meant a lot to see her friend move on. “Kenz, specifics. Nothing could be everything.”
“Yeah. Does he know about Linc?” Bethany agreed and asked.
“Please say no.” Crystal added.
“No. And I have no reason to tell him right now.”
“So does that mean you guys are going out again?” Crystal smiled at her reply.
“Yes.” She rolled her eyes but smiled. “Again, we talked about basics. He told me about Ireland, I told him about the states or whatever. It really was nothing. Just a normal, successful date.”
“Do you like him?”
Kenzie opened her mouth but gave a slow nod with a smile playing on the corners of her mouth. “We’ll see.”
The more Kenzie thought about it the more she actually did want to like him. Sure she wasn’t completely sure yet. She wasn’t even sure if she was even ready to start liking anybody. One part of her was pushing her to move on, but the other part still wanted time. If anything did happen with Davin (which she was doubting by far) she was going to make sure things had gone slow. It was the least she could do for herself.
