Chapter 6: Answers
Morgan's POV
"The reason why I've been acting so hostile towards you since the incident is because my ex boyfriend used to call me Babygirl, and hearing you say it brought back extremely painful memories of our breakup, because one of the last things he called me before he made me leave his apartment for good was in fact Babygirl" she explains
"Oh my god, Penelope I am so sorry! I literally had no idea of your previous relationship and what happened! So of course my calling you that brought up some painful memories from your past! I'm so sorry! You deserve so much better! I'm such an idiot! I really need to...." I ramble on trying to apologize for my stupidity
"Derek, Derek, MORGAN! For the love of god shut up for a minute would you! For one, you didn't know about my past because I didn't want anyone to know about it so I never told anyone, and for two I accept your sweet yet rather long apology!" she says
With that I blushed- yes blushed- like the lovestruck idiot I am and apologize for like the thousandth time "Sorry"
"Oh stop it you" Garcia says while rolling her eyes playfully at me
Finally knowing a bit of her background and feeling like a jerk, even though I know it's a long shot considering her past, I'm going to do the one thing I've been wanting to do since the first time I laid eyes on her in the Conference Room on her first day here at the BAU three weeks ago.
"Umm Penelope?" I ask shyly
"Yea Morgan" she replies
"Umm.. Well I.. umm.. was wondering if.. umm, you'd like to.. umm.. grab coffee with.. umm.. me sometime" I stammered out the question afraid no terrified of her response
"What was that?" She asked obviously not understanding what I just stammered out
"I was wondering if you'd like to grab coffee with me sometime I mean I know it's a long shot considering your recent past and me being a complete jerk for upsetting you, but I'd really like to grab coffee with you sometime to get to know you better" I ramble on for like the hundredth time since I met her, I just like this girl so much that it makes me do stuff I normally wouldn't do like ramble
Garcia seems to think about my offer for a bit before responding "Yea sure, I'd love to grab coffee with you sometime Morgan, and your right I'm not exactly ready for a new relationship just yet considering what happened recently, but I'll definitely grab coffee with you just as friends, how does tomorrow after sound to you?"
My heart immediately and involuntarily sinks at her rejection for it being a date and getting in a relationship with me, even though wanting a relationship with her was the farthest thing from my mind at the time, but I brush it off and put on a brave face and a somewhat genuine smile because let's face it underneath all the hurt from her rejection, I'm a bundle of complete and udder happiness and excitement for tomorrow! I just need to let her know that tomorrow after work is fine with me.
"Yea, tomorrow after work is fine with me, so we'll go to the little café down the street here, would you like to drive together of separately?" I reply
"Alright, you can pick me up at my apartment if you want, I'll call you when I'm ready because I want to go home first to change and I'll give you directions then" she said
"Ok then, I'll see you after work tomorrow when I pick you up" I said
"See you then!" She beamed then walked off in the opposite direction of where we currently are
