"if the wounds on her heart
and the bruises on her soul
were translated on her skin,
you wouldn't recognize her
at all."

her bangs covered her eyes so no soul would see the fear that she kept inside of them. it's a shame that her eyes were filled with fear, for the beauty of the little gold specks found within the deep brown that shown in the light made by the sun.

just like her eyes her personality was hidden away too. she found herself on the quiet side, never to reveal her true feelings. it seemed that she hid everything away, only for herself to know the true kaylila ivy blue rodgers. and that was another thing that she hid away. she did not use her full name under any circumstances.

she was an odd mix of johnny and dallas. with her thick chicago accent and her ability to be tough she was almost a clone of dallas. she wasn't afraid to get into a gang fight for she had been in a gang before. her skull tattoo and how she normal was clothed in only black also built her up to be tougher than she was.

while on the other hand her small, fragile frame and child-like innocence is what kept her from being just like dallas. and she was a hard worked too. she worked extra shifts to earn enough money to move out of her shed-like house. once she got on her feet more, she wanted to find a new job. one where she wouldn't get beaten like she did at bucks.

tonight was a night that she was supposed to join the curtis' and the gang to see a movie and just spend some time together. she got held up at work and it completely slipped her mind.

still pushing through the night at 10, she worked herself half to death. she had decided that she'd deserved a break and gave herself five minutes off.

while she was in the back, smoking her last cigarette, buck staggered out the door. he was drunk as ever and came to do his routine beating on kaylila. when buck was drunk he was aggressive, he would beat up on the girls and speak of harsh profanities.

"what the fuck are you doing out here?"

he grabbed her by her collar and pulled her closer to him. his breath reeked of alcohol and she whimpered as he shook her tiny frame.

"n-nothing"

she stuttered as she choked back her tears. she wished that someone would help her and save her from the misery that became a daily struggle. buck suddenly let her go from his grip and put her down.

relief washed over her for a total of one second before there was a burning pain in her cheek. buck had slapped her across the face. this was only the beginning, for she had known what was coming next. buck had picked up his beer bottle, ready to crack it down on her fragile skull.

just as the bottle was about to crash down on her head, buck's wrist was grabbed by a large figure behind him. the figure suddenly spun buck around and grabbed the bottle from his hand. he struck buck with the bottle and let his drunken body fall to the ground. the figure suddenly came into the light and the weeping girl had realized it was darry.

she had loved darry since she met him but never got her hopes up since she thought she was no good for him. little did she know she was the girl of his dreams and that he felt the same way about her.

"darry? what are you doing here?"

"you forgot about our movie with the gang and i wa- they were worried sick about you. we've been looking all over for you."

he helped her up and then noticed the bruise starting to form on her face. he looked her up and down. he noticed other bruises and cuts from what he was assuming were from previous times buck had beaten her.

"what are these?"

"t-they're nothing. i'm just clumsy that's all."

"don't lie to me."

"they are just from work, it's not a big deal. i'm broken anyways."

she shrugged it off and went to go back to work. before she could leave, darry grabbed her wrist and pulled her around into a kiss.

"let me fix you"

she looked him in his icy blue eyes and suddenly saw warmth in them. a comforting warmth that showed kindness and love, and just the smallest hint of lust.

"ok"
