Byronic Wishes

Was there another Troy for her to burn?
Was there another then
after for whom she did yearn?
Still after twenty; her hold on me so stern
I loved her plenty 'fore our love did turn
Her callous passions- no lover's fashion
- I plot and wish -
Dreadful ambitions which I hold dear
I hope and wish the time to near
- the time when she will learn
I will not miss those darkling times
after when our tryst adjourned
Entirety of fire-razed place- hopeful wishes now so poison-laced
My eternity is torn
Where once were fonts now those cold, black waters run
I wish this ill-begotten time that besmirched such happy days and fine
- My heart it weighs a tonne -
I bid these ails undone.
