Pete frowned sightly. There was a look of somber regret on his face. "I'm sorry. What about your parents?" Pete felt bad for Patrick; honestly, he did. He himself had been shunned, but at least he had the comfort of his own home. "I don't remember them, and I practically raised myself, but I think I did a pretty good job." He chuckled bitterly.
Pete's frown deepened. "Well...if you like, you could stay here. I have an extra room upstairs if you like. You don't have to, obviously, it's just...I'll stop talking now." The words rushed out and sounded as one continuous word, and it took seconds to stop them. Patrick chuckled. "Sure, a bed would be a nice change."
"I have some grey clothes, if you want them." He said gingerly. "As long as they're clothes, I'm fine with any colour. And...thanks. For taking me in, I mean. You didn't have to." Patrick said with a smile. "I know I don't have to.
"I want to." Pete's grin only grew as he saw the twinkle in Patrick's eyes. He couldn't place the emotions in them,, or at least, not precisely. He knew it was possitive, and he knew it was one he rarely felt. And to a soul like Pete, that was more satisfying that anything. In a selfless kind of way, he felt better for making Patrick happy. "So, Trick, if you follow me, I'll show you the room." Patrick grinned at the nickname. He stood and followed Pete upstairs, a slight bounce in his step that wasn't there before.
