Chapter One ¤ Never Again

It had been eighteen painful years since Genesis had placed her hands on the hot stove and spoken to Castiel. Her mother had convinced her that the voices were a medical problem, the doctors even agreed and started making her take medicine to make them go away. She tried telling them that the voices were real and that they were angels speaking to her, but this only resulted in a week stay at a hospital and more medication. She took the medicine, despite her beliefs, and lied when she told the doctors the voices had gone away. Though they really hadn't, except for one.

Over the years she had become familiar with two particular angels, one who called herself Anna and another called Zachariah. Anna would visit her and talk about anything that happened to be on her mind that day, mostly about an oncoming threat and an apocalypse that she needn't worry about for the present.

Zachariah, on the other hand, scared her a little, mainly because when ever he would appear Anna would flee and not come back for a few days. Zachariah would always speak of her powers and what she could do with them, how she would be the one to save them all. That was all he would ever say, "You, daughter of Emily, will one day save the world." And then he would disappear and Anna would soon after take his place.

Though one voice had never returned to her, the voice of the angel Castiel. She felt as if it were fault, she knew it was. At one of her appointments she had made the mistake to say his name and talk about how he was the only one who would speak to her directly. The doctor had then made her tell Castiel to go away and to leave her alone. She did. He had never spoken to her since and she missed the sound of his voice and the trust she had put into him. When he had disappeared that's when Anna discovered the young girl and took his place.

Now, eighteen years later, she had discarded all of her medications and had canceled all of her doctor appointments. She was finally old enough to choose her own doings and she chose a life of voices. She would sit in her bed and just listen to the endless chatter of the angels with the occasional visits from Anna and Zachariah for hours.

Just before she would go to bed she would pray, not to God, but to Castiel.

"Dear Castiel, where ever you may be," she would start off. At first she felt silly but as she continued to do it she started to feel as if she were talking to no one. "It's been awhile since you've last spoken to me. I'm sorry I pushed you away, I promise I didn't mean it. Please say something to me."

She would look up at the ceiling, imagining the angel's voice coming through the roof and into her ears, signaling he was still there. No matter how many times, no matter how hard she prayed she never received an answer. And then one day she stopped, having lost all faith in the angel's return.

After that day she tuned out all the angels, even Anna and Zachariah couldn't pierce the veil she had thrown over herself. She could still feel the two angels' presence, she could even distinguish who was who, but she couldn't hear their voices anymore. Then, a month passed and Anna had abandoned her too, leaving her alone with the angel that frightened her the most.

The day Anna abandoned her was the day she snapped, not only had she lost her first angel, but now the one angel who she still had faith in left on their own free will. She threw off her veil, being exposed to the angelic voices once again, and screamed into the void of heaven. Her cries caused every angel in existence to silence and listen to rage and sorrow of the chosen one.

"You've left me alone, Castiel!" she screamed. "How many times do I have to apologize to you for you to understand? They thought I was crazy, made me take medicines proven to make the voices go away. I thought I was going crazy when you never came back! Not only have you left me, but Anna's gone too! What did I do wrong?"

She choked on the last sentence as she waited for a reply. Every angel had gone silent, waiting for Castiel to reply just as the chosen waited for the angel. When no reply came she threw her shroud back over her mind and sobbed, the feeling of abandonment piecing her heart and turning it black.

"So can you tell me what the voices are?" a man in a lab coat asked.

"They're angels." the young woman replied simply, looking at the window in a daze.

"And what do they say to you?"

"They don't speak directly to me, but I can hear them talking to one another. They speak of the future, the apocalypse, and the one who was born to speak with ang-" she cocked her head to the side as if she were listening for something, still looking out the window.

"Anna, what is it?" the doctor asked, leaning forward in his chair.

"I can hear her cries," a tear slid down her cheek and landed on her light blue uniform, "Her cries of abandonment. She thinks she pushed him away, but she doesn't know the truth. He had to leave to protect her."

"Who are you talking about?"

"Castiel and the one chosen to speak with angels."

"You wish to speak with me, Naomi?" Castiel asked as he appeared in a white room with nothing in it besides a desk and a woman dressed in business clothes.

Castiel had changed since he had last spoken to Genesis; he had found a new vessel, a man named Jimmy Novak, who could hear his true voice. He wore a business suit and a loosened blue tie that was covered by a tan trench coat. He had short black hair instead of sandy curls and cobalt blue eyes that always appeared to be staring someone down.

"Yes I do," the woman replied and turned around so she was facing him, "I think it's time you go back and visit her."

"I do not deem that wise, the demons will be able to see her if I go."

"They've already heard her though," she interrupted, "We all heard her, as did you."

He looked down and turned his face, trying to keep his face emotionless, something he did very well but it was difficult this time. He had indeed heard her cries and had used all of his will power not to go down and speak to her, comfort her. He had not abandoned her like she thought he did, he had done the complete opposite; he had watched her grow up from the day she was born to the day she had cried out to him. He had been ordered that if he continued to make contact with her then the other forces would be able to find her and use her powers against the angels. At first he did not understand his command until he pulled a man named Dean Winchester out of perdition; then he understood, he was wanted by the demons and if they saw he made frequent visits to one person they would begin to get suspicious.

Finally, he looked at Naomi and asked, "What must I do?"

So here's the next chapter! I forgot to mention this in the last chapter but there will be slight spoilers if you're not past season three. Sorry. Please vote, comment (I love comments), and share this with your Supernatural/Superwholock friends! ~God Bless
