Chapter 26

"Hey, you two."

Chris grabs his phone and stops the music before walking up to Melanie.

"Morning." He says with a smile.

Melanie can't help but smiling too, "So..."

"So..." Chris repeats.

"Last night, was..."

"Yeah, it was."

Melanie's smile grows, then she stands on her tip toes and quickly pecks Chris' lips. The two of them then remember the kid in the room and they look to Sadie who had totally just seen them kiss. Sadie looks off and acts oblivious, but she was trying extremely hard not to smile.

"I didn't see anything." She says.

Melanie snickers.

"Whoops." Chris says.

"Can I steal you a sec?" Melanie asks.

"Yeah. There's coffee, do you want any?"

"Please."

They walk into the kitchen off to the kitchen and Sadie excitedly looks to her big, black dog that was also in the room.

"Did you see that, Fred?!" Sadie whisper-yells.

Chris and Melanie walk into the kitchen and Chris gets two mugs for the coffee.

"So, um...that little thing you mentioned last night..." Melanie starts.

"Yes?"

"Well...were you being serious?"

"Were you?"

"I don't know...I mean, I can't say I don't like the idea of it, but it's kind of scary, you know?"

"Um, who was it that gave the whole big speech about taking risks last night?"

Melanie sighs, dramatically, "Oh, I suppose that was me." She says, "So what are we going to do?"

"I'm gonna chill here for another half hour and have some coffee with you. Then I'm gonna run to my place to shower and change clothes. Then I'm going to come back here and pick Sadie up to help me with a...task." Chris says with a smirk, "While we're off doing that, you're going to stay here and pamper yourself; take a bubble bath, read a book, relax for once in your life. It is a Sunday after all."

"Alright...and what exactly will you and Sadie be off doing?"

"That is for us to know and for you to find out."

Melanie laughs, "Okay then, I don't have much of a choice other than to trust you."

Chris chuckles, "You'll like it." He says before putting his hands on her hips and kissing her for a long time. Melanie stands on her tip toes and slings her arms around Chris' shoulders, letting herself melt into him. After a minute, they come apart and rest their foreheads together.

"I love you." Chris whispers.

Melanie smiles, "I love you too." She whispers before quickly pecking his lips, "So, shall we inform Sadie of this scheme of yours?"

"Yes. Child!"

Sadie dashes in, smiling, "What?"

"I have something very special planned for you and me today." Chris says.

"You do?"

"Mhm. I'm gonna chill here a while and have some coffee with your mom, then I'm gonna run home to freshen up and change clothes since I spent the night here. When I get back, I'm gonna need you to get dressed and ready because we're gonna do do something, just you and me."
