His Obsession

Chapter 24 - Milan

" Hey, Helen. I'm sorry, I don't think I'll be able to make it to the rehearsal for the next 4 days. I'm flying to Milan tomorrow for work. It was very last minute so I apologize for any inconvenience caused. " I apologized over the phone.

" It's alright, Anna. I understand. You've worked hard for the past rehearsals so I think you're good to go. We'll have another last rehearsal one day before the fashion show so make sure you come, alright? " Helen's tone was very gentle over the phone. I'm so glad she understands my current situation now.

           The doorbell suddenly rang. 

" I'll call you again when I'm back. Thank you, Helen. " I hung up and opened the front door.

" Augustus? " I said when I saw the man standing at my door.

" I heard you're flying to Milan? " He asked anxiously. It's funny that was the first thing he said.

" Come in first. " I snickered. He walked into my living room and sat down on the couch.

" Quinn told you? " I asked as I sat opposite of him.

He nodded his head, " Why do you have to go with him? "

" I don't have a choice. " I shrugged.

" I'm worried. Colton is not the same man you knew a year ago. " He frowned.

" What do you mean? " I asked curiously.

" I just wanted you to reconsider this trip. " He said as if begging me not to go.

" Augustus, I wish I could. But I can't. I did not want to go too. But this is my work. I can't just quit. I have signed the contract. " I explained.

" I understand, " He nodded his head. " But just promise me you'll be careful around him. Don't let your guard down. "

" I promise, Augustus. " I smiled weakly, thankful for having a friend like him. I understand why he's worried because I am too.

" I'll send you to the airport later? " Augustus offered and stood up to leave.

" It's alright. The company is sending someone to pick me up later. " I replied. He gave me a hug and left after saying goodbye.

" Aunt Mary, call me if anything happens to dad alright? " I hugged her as the driver placed my luggage bag in the boot. My dad was admitted to hospital again because he was having a high fever. I hate that I'm not there to take care of him.

" I will, Anna. Call me when you're there. And be careful. " She patted my back. I nodded and entered the car.

" Annabeth, we're landing soon. " Christine, who was sitting beside me, shook me gently to wake me up from my sleep.

              After 8 hours of flight, we finally landed in Milan. Colton was not in the same plane with us because he has his own private jet and because he has a meeting in the morning, so we did not fly together. We took a cab to our hotel – Mandarin Oriental. By the time we reached the hotel, it was already 9am. Christine and I both checked in to our own separate rooms.

" Get some rest. We have an event this evening so the crew will come to your room at 5.30pm. Mr Zac will reach here by 7pm so you're expected to stay in your room until Mr Zac is here to pick you up and attend the event together. " Christine informed as she scrolled through her iPad to look at my schedules.

" What about his fiancée? " I asked out of curiosity.

" She usually doesn't attend important events with Mr Zac. Mr Zac doesn't bring any partner along to any events. " Christine stated, nonchalantly. " You can look around the city but don't wander too far. Remember, you need to be back by 5.30pm. " she repeated and then left to her own room.
