"Once upon a time..."

These were the words the gave a home to creativity. Whispers of princesses in towers, jokes of talking frogs who asked for kisses, pictures of dragons soaring through the air, blowing columns of fire.

These words were the gateway to imagination. Goblins who hid in houses and ate snot while people slept, fairies who pinched and whose voices were just the chimes of bells, witches with their infamous laughter, potions and spells galore.

Now, dear reader, this may sound far fetched, ludicrous, inconceivable,  but in my world, these weren't mere stories, or myths.

They were reality.

Once upon a time, there was a coffee shop. It sat on the corner of Fifth and Main, and a green sign read "Flutter's Cafe".

It was a small business, owned by a small, plump woman by the name of Maria. Officially, she was Maria of the Lily, but Maria was just fine, and 'of the Lily' was an awfully long last name.

Flutter's was run by fairies, as the name suggested. It was clever, too. A dash of pixie dust would wake anyone up. Lift their spirits a bit as well. Perfect for the typical Monday.

Maria had three daughters, Cassandra, Seraphina, and Alexandria.

The three were happy with helping out in Flutter's. It was Cassandra who came across an elven girl while making her rounds around the shop.

Elves were rarely in a place like Flutter's.

"Everything tasting alright, ma'am?" Cassandra asked, referring to the muffin in front of the girl. Like most elves, a set of horns rested on her head. Ram horns, to be exact. They stood out against her pastel pink hair. Only then did she notice the redness to the Elf's eyes and nose.

The Elf returned a short nod.

Cassandra resisted the urge to ask, but failed, "Are you alright?"

With a short sigh, the Elf stood, "Sorry, don't take this personally," she said, before the air around her began to twist, and she fell into a blue portal, gone. Cassandra's eyes widened. She'd never seen portal magic in person before.

With the portal came curiosity. With curiosity, came a story.
