Chapter 1 (Eng. Ver)

Perfect-maybe it was the best word to describe Vernon, a New York boy with black hair, sharp eyes and bright skin. His skin was brighter than his friends. It really made them, especially girls, envy. Another aspect that will made everyone envy was his lips, thin and very red. Of course, he never wore lipstick or anything on his lips, it was natural. Vernon said that 'red' was a symbol of eternity. Yes, in the modern era, some people still believe in everlasting life, and one of them was Vernon.

This was Vernon's first experience to study abroad. He got a chance to study in Victory High School-a biggest school in South Korea. Some students from America and Asia also got scolarship to study here.

First, a woman teacher named Mrs.Park introduced Vernon to 2-A class' students. Then she asked Vernon to introduced himself.

"My name is Hansol Vernon, but Vernon is enough. I am from New York." Vernon's appearance when first time entered the classroom made his classmates amazed. Many girl classmates wanted to sit next to Vernon, but Mrs.Park already decided a seat for him. She chose front-right corner near the door as Vernon's seat. He sat next to Joshua, the captain of the class.

Joshua was little bit different from the other in the class. He liked reading a lot and talked as much as he need. For his classmates, Joshua seemed like careless because he never joined a conversation with the other. But he was actually a kind person.

"Where do you want to go after this?" asked Vernon in Korean when the bell ringing, indicate the break time.

"A library," answered Joshua.

"I am so glad that my first friend here is a nerd." Joshua just smiled to reply Vernon's words, then they walked together to the library in third floor of school's building. As they returned from the library, Vernon asked Joshua to accompany him to the canteen. There, Vernon saw something that made him curious.

"Who is that boy? Why he sits alone?" asked Vernon, pointing on an innocent boy who wore neat uniform.

"His name is Dino. He is also one of our classmates." Vernon tried to remembered. He did not remember all of his classmates at the first day. "Unfortunately, he does not has friends here because he is not smart," explained Joshua. Vernon just focused on Dino and began to smirk.

Day by day, Vernon and Joshua became close friend. One day, Mr.Han gave a homework to analyze poem for literature class. Vernon and Joshua worked in a group and they did it in Joshua's house. Joshua's house was not so far from the school, just 20 minutes by city bus.

"I live with my mother. My father works in Los Angeles," said Joshua, and Vernon just nodded.

They started to do the homework by reading the poem first. When Joshua began to explain how to analyze the poem, suddenly someone outside knocked the door. Joshua stood and opened it. Vernon was shocked by someone who stood outside the house. She was Lisa, Joshua's childhood friend.

"Why don't you tell me that you have a beautiful friend?" Vernon whispered behind Joshua. Joshua just laughed, made Lisa confused.

"Lisa, this is Vernon, my new friend from New York."

Lisa smiled and shook Vernon's hand. Apparently, Lisa loved poetry so much. So she helped Vernon and Joshua to finish the homework.

In the break time while Vernon waited for Joshua back from library, he saw Lisa walked alone in front of him.

"Hey," greeted Vernon. Lisa looked awkward when Vernon greeted her.

"Do you also study here?" asked Vernon. Lisa smiled first, then she answered, "yes, I am in 2-C class." Vernon and Lisa walked together to the class without Joshua. In the class before the lesson, Vernon told Joshua that he was happy to meet Lisa again. Joshua was sure that Vernon liked his childhood's friend.
